Jet artifical horizon unusable

You know how the artificial horizon behaves when you reach the point where you are flying sideways?
Well this problem has finally got to me. I was flying the Frogfoot on Kashan, I started turning just before the edge of the map, but I couldn't tell which way was up in order to turn around because the artificial horizon was just going between / / , = , \ \ , = back and forth. I died from the ten second death penalty of course.
Most likely I was stuck in a barrel roll, but I couldn't tell what was happening at the time.
(And before you ask, I know how to fly, I've landed the j-10 on Quinling WITHOUT bailing)

Put a marker in centre of map if you dont have a target so you know where to fly towards if you dont know where you are going.

Well problem usually lies in your not squad lead and the SL has no marker up

I was the squad leader, and I had a marker In SV, the other end of the map. A marker can't really help you tell which way is up so you can turn around.

I wouldn't say it was unusable as such but i do see what you mean. I just use the 7,8 and 9 keys to find my bearing. Usually u can see the clouds and tell which way up you are. If you see the ground above you, then prepare for a large tentpegged aircraft!

I think they are fine, btw did you land the J10 in 0.7 or 0.8

0.8. I wasn't here during 0.7.

High altitude on low settings on Kashan make for one soupy mess up there, I've run into the same problem as the OP has. Artificial horizon needs a major overhaul if possible.

SL put a marker for you then...
and ofc it helps, you just fly into the marker...till you see it infront of you rather than it on the side of the screen.

that's wierd. i've had everything on low and all the way past 3000 ft and turning at the edge of map and it didn't happen to me. my guess is to use the HUD in your jet to help?

The Artificial Horizon is part of the HUD, it tells you your bank and pitch.
(left/right,up/down)

It only shows the angle of your wings in relation to the ground.
So yes, you could be upside down but BF2's HUD would look like it was the right way up. Of course in real life, the pilot would have warnings and many other dials to tell him/her if he/she was inverted.
