how do I keep my game from crashing?

lately whenever I load onto a server and play, it plays for 5 minutes with no problems (75-100FPS), and after 5 minutes it just crashes to the desktop
WTF?

There is lots of threads about this, i think the common response is, what error message is displayed?

Play in windowed mode, it will then give you an error message.

Sounds like you need the modded bf2.exe file. Replace the bf2.exe with this new one, tell us if you keep having problems.
