New Players on PR - Help Them

I played for a few hours today and couldn't believe how many new players were on. It was amazing.
EA's ad for PR has brought so many new players to PR in the past few days I think we need to be as helpful as our patience will allow.
Today I saw a lot more people NOT being helpful than those being helpful.
Yes, they should read the manual, but let's be realistic. In our "perfect little world" every new player would study the manual for hours before logging on to their first game. It doesn't happen that way. They'll download it and play it. We need to take into mind how overwhelming it is for a vanilla player to switch... then to be screamed at through the whole game.
I just there are some of us that need to be a little more patient with the new guys. over and out.

I'm kinda one of those new players. Last time I played was when this game was still a minimod. Luckily, a couple of the TG guys helped me out and I'm learning a lot!

Most people on these forums have taught alot of people the mod, just some dont want/have the time to teach them. Most of these new players will leave and go back to where they came from when they keep getting killed and kicked for not using teamwork. I myself have taught several people the mod and with each release its liek a new game.

That's how I got started playin PR only about 2 weeks ago, EA's ad on the bf2 website.
The problem that I ran into is that there's a bunch of information in the manual, which needs to be included, and I forgot a bunch of the information while I was playing. I tried alt-tabbing, but most of the time it's just easier to ask a quick question than waiting for the game to load each time you alt-tab.
But now I've got my foot pretty much in the door and I help out whenver I can.

When you have been helping noobs everyday for the last few years it gets old. And its not like a once a month thing, almost everyday there is some noob blowing up our choppers etc. Too bad they cant make it so you have to play at least 5 hours in a training server before you play in a regular server. Or at least force them to read the manual.
Besides I had no problem when there was only 3 or 4 servers filled up as long as the game play was not ruined by new players.
On the other hand people just act like they are noobs to be able to cause trouble, They could do something and just say they didn't know. sooner or later people get fed up with it especially people who have been playing for along time.

this is not helpful don't be mean or rude to new player's if you don't want to help them don't squad with them and don't /j or /k and call them a noob but feel free to /l to your squad if hes not in it

Be patient, we go through this with every release and it gets better. I personally don't mind helping new players out even if I get asked the same question multiple times. In fact, I find those folks acting like "elitist" dicks much more frustrating than the newer players.

I never said anything about being rude to any, I just said most PR players don't want to help noobs every time they play they rather play the game. 90% of the time noobs are the ones who are rude, they will spam chat asking "How do I drive apc" etc and no one will answer then they go on tirade about how this mod sucks and other mods are better etc.
Also I lost you after the /j part, and calling noob "noobs" isn't rude that's just what they are, everyone was a noob once.

My thoughts on the "Invasion of the 'Nilla Nubs"
I'm all for it as long as the new players that try the mod come in with an open mind. They cannot simply jump right in and expect to understand anything. I can hear it now: "What are caches?", "Why can't I run faster/longer?", "Where are the crosshairs?", and "Why don't I have limitless nades?"
The PR community will have to accept these new players in stride and teach them how this great mod is played. It's all about the teamwork and coordination between squads. It's not about the super duper loner who just wants to rack up the kills. There are objectives and they cannot be met alone. If you are a PR veteran and start a squad, please ask if any of the squad members are new. Have them stay by your side at all times and teach them the ropes. I hope we are able to bring in some great team-oriented players and keep the community growing.
Did you guys vote yet?

I usually only help people that are in my squad, that I can easily help through VOIP. But if someone starts typing on the chat how to play, I don't want to take time away from playing and try to teach them, so I usually tell them that the manual will answer most, if not all, of their questions.

The biggest problem with Training servers is that they lead people to believe that they'll learn how to play on them. However, that couldn't be farther from the truth. They should only be there to get accustomed to the assets and to learn tactics easily without having to wait the 20 mins for each asset.
I'd suggest putting something like that in the manuel just to clear things up though. the best way to really get involved with pr and to learn how to play and what the tactics are would be to join an Infantry squad with VoiP. I can't stress this enough, because not only is it a less stressfull role to play when you're dealing with highly valued assets, but more importantly, it's an easier transition and any good SL will gladly help you out by teaching you the ropes, and what each kit he assigns you does.
I've always helped and always will help anyone new to the mod, because not only was I new to the mod when I first started playing (back in 0.7 days), but new players are what help keep the mod going, increased teamwork (especially as they become more experienced), and just new members to the community. The only time I
haven't been as friendly towards new players is when they've asked how to fly jets/taxi, and I tell them to get off the regular server, read the manuel, and train with assets on training servers, but they'll persist until they crash every jet

In my perfect world I was sitting anxious for a manual release, xfiring all of my buddies "Yeah no more kits on rallies, incendiary grenades, yeah no kits on FOB, and the crates, yeah yeah taliban rallies!"
I think new players should read the manual, instead of doing things like the other day - Guy hops in squad, says nothing, takes pilot kit on karbala... while our squad is engaging going for a marked cache and we have rally... crashes the LB, I mention it over voice "Like jeez the guy took the LB and crashed it" He only responds, man those things are harder to fly than regular BF2, leaves squad a minute later.... I did get to mention to him to spawn on the rally or group with squad XD
Its just bad when some people put ZERO effort into it.
WHERE CAN I GET SNIPER KIT?! - on chat...
I even saw a guy join up and ask "Is there any way to spawn on squad leader?" in all caps
RTFM

Yep, been lots of "enemy units on the move" "enemy units on the move" "enemy units on the move"
I think there will be a lot of new, quality players before too long.

Today I had a someone joining my squad. I was too busy engaging the enemy to give him much attention. When I did have the time I saw him driving a Supply Truck with a sniper kit from main to my squad. Halfway he got blown up.
I must admit I did not have the will to start teaching him how to play PR.

It gets pretty funny sometimes one guy was going to use one of the statics
thinking it was a real tank on Koselsk another kept wanting to use the area attack
as a CO.Both have listened to the tips thou:like keep ranching that tank it will get fixed soon

- man that would be cruel I wouldn't do that.
The advise is always the same have a mic. and follow the squad, don't worry about
assets for the first times.Just make sure the SL knows what he's doing that's all.
