with out the kill indicator, that shows who killed whom, it is very dificult to admin game. We had some complaints on the server tonight, and I could not figure out which player to watch because the players complaining could not identify the culprit.

is there any way to turn that back on????????????????????????????????? :(

I love there being no enemy tags, but I havenot heard from anyone who likes not being able to see who they killed, especialy, our server admins..

Please HELP

I find it to be distracting, but I dont think you can get it back w/o making a new separate mod. Not sure though.

I prefer no kill indicator thing - makes it more 'Realistic' :D

I'm not sure how you should deal with you problem though. I'm not entirely sure this is something we had anticipated when removing kill indicators.

You can bring back kill text, but I'm not going to tell you how.

Anyway, I like not being able to see who I killed or vice-versa, it's realistic, and helps cool tensions.

problem of course being when you have people who abuse this to hack repealdly. Maybe insuite a system where by the admin can see who killed who. Also DMXSnow where did you get that movie that is in you sig and how did you get it in your sig.

Talk to the players on the other team, or hold TAB and monitor the enemy kills.

The problem we had was that there were 2 guys spawn raping, I was bale to switch sides, and flip through the "C" button to find them. If they were not so blatent about it, and hanging out doing it, I might not have cought them. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out which players were doing it.

the prob with the ~ button is that there is no way to stop the flood of info coming into the console. it makes it dificult to focus in on 1 spot. the admin screen would prob work better.

DON'T GET ME WRONG, I love the feel of not knowing if I got the other guy or not,,,,,,,all i'm saying is, we may be sacrificing admining the game properly for game play, which is really, in the long run, the same thing, if we can't admin properly, then the smacks will ruin it for everyone.

we had 30 players on our server that night. Thats 15 dif guys i had to flip through, and get their position, to figure out who was where. ****side note**

thanks guys, I think the mod is great, I want to see it succeed, and have been actively going to clans to promote the mod. I think that is how we got 30 people in our server sat, and I saw a buch of guys in our server sat, that were whereing clan tags that I posted in. If we can keep to our rules up front we can rope in the new players, and get them in line easier.

thanx,
JB

I perfer no kill indicator also, it does make it more real, BUT, how real is it when smacks come in and figure out that NO ONE will know that THEY TKed you, and start running around shooting thier team mates for fun???

I'm not trying to step on toes, Just seen it in the past with other mods.

We all want fun, and more real game play, and full servers, and tactics, and competition, but it needs to ballanced with our admins ability to keep the peace, and be fair with all players.

thanx

The Number one thing I use is the BattleRecorder. Lower your server to like 32 or 40 people and run it. If you suspect a cheater wait till the round ends and then go back and look for suspicouse behavior.

I still say we need a team of 3 or 4 people dedicated to investigating cheating on the servers that do have demo's enabled.

I'm not talking about cheaters, I'm talking about smacks, by time the round ends the damage is done. People playing, and getting TKed, will not stay, if it's allowed to continue. There must be immediate action taken.

good point. all it takes are a few bad apples. would probably help if admins could see kill message history. on the other hand, as this mod gains popularity, and i have no doubt it will, there'll be more and more servers, many of which may not be admined well, and the 'smacks' will reign. how about kill message ONLY for team killing and kicked for >3 tk's. what i'd really like to see is some way to reverse team damage. for example, shoot your team mate (intentionally or not) and you take the damage, not him. that'd fix that problem right up.

Could the DEV's build in a negative scoring system for kills of an enemy within an uncappable flag area? Then the servers could be set up so if you had x -ve point you'd be kicked?

On the TK problem - how about 3 TKs then your kicked?

I like the idea of seing TKs only but the 3 and you get kicked thing is kinda bad I have inadvertintly killed most of my team w/ one bombing run before and I would have been kicked for it when it was a total acident. If you do the 3 unforgiven TKs then that would be cool.

As AsianLadyBoy mentioned earlier, there is a way to bring back any or all of the death messages. I'm aware of how to do it, and at the moment, I'm experimenting with just bringing back the TK messages, as well as a message that tells you who punished you for a TK if you've been punished (although I'm not sure if the latter works yet). I've played a few rounds to test its effectiveness, and it serves its purpose quite well, but I'll experiment a little more before I decide to keep it or revert back to no messages at all.

Don't get me wrong; I enjoy the realism of having no kill messages, but I also don't like feeling like a hapless victim when I get TK'ed (or being absolutely in the dark if I do TK someone). I figure something like this would take some of the guesswork in adminning a server, too.

I'd consider releasing this tweak under two conditions: 1) I get the blessing of the PR Devs, and 2) I can somehow make an installer that does not reveal what files are being changed, not because I want to install anything malicious or anything like that, but because if people figure out the (extremely simple) trick, it's bound to be abused. That's the last thing I want to happen to this awesome game.

Or, maybe we can start a poll to see the community's stance on this issue, and the devs can release their own tweak accordingly...?

I agree that the TK message should be there. Since it seems that the veiw distance for friendly tags is less than what it is in regular BF2, sometimes you do take a team mate out by accident. I don't really see where any of us has a major problem with fixing this aspect of PRMM gameplay.

The real problem are the smacktards. I am not an elite gamer and I know that there are people that have nothing better to do than hone their gaming skills to that razor's edge, but I find it incredibly hard to belive that two players out of 15 can absolutely own the entire opposing team. I don't know if there are hacks that allow faster spawn times or aimbots or sprint exploits or anything along those lines made for PRMM that are not currently caught by PunkBuster, but for the life of me, I can't fathom anyone having skills so great as to pull such a feat off. The spawn camping JB talked about was bad, but after about 6 deaths, we were able to root the campers out and keep them at bay long enough to make another push for another flag. I can't put my finger on it, but those two guys had something different about them. I have played some really excellent rounds with some really talented gamers and I must say that the ownage factor was no where near what went on with the two mystery gamers.

Getting owned outright by superior skills and tactics is part of the game and it helps newer less skilled players learn. Those types of experiences almost never involve taunts and derrogatory remarks being typed in chat. It is usually the hacks and smacks that participate in the over the top abusive game chat. Their ego just won't let them get by without degrading their opponents. Since it was this type of behavior that led me to turn away from BF2 Ranked play, it saddens me to see this trend bleed over into an otherwise superior mod with the potential to be everything that any BF franchise lover wants.

Over at the WOLF Pirate Ninja Clan, our motto is Respect and Honor. It would be nice for our server admins to be able to enforce those ideals in game on our server. Please consider giving the server admins the tools to provide a fair and balanced environment.

Respect and Honor,

~WPN~Major Ursa Norte.

As for this, well, its either luck, or hacks. I'm never one to point the "You are a hacker" finger at anyone, so consider that these guys are really good. What were their names?
