Transition to new engine

On a scale form 1 to 10 where 10 is "I cant wait to get my hands on it" and 1 is "Yeah, here, take my blood too." How likely is it that most of the devs will migrate the mod to a new engine, like arma 2 or OPF 2, bringing the Taliban Insurgents and the PR feel to those mods ?

in theory the Arma 2 or OPF2 engine would be perfect for something like this.....but in reality, there are serious issues, for one Bf2 has a large community, which OPf2 and Arma 2 wount match....

the other and bigger issue is that Arma 2 and OPF 2 are both already highly realistic (especially Arma 2 which is more realistic than PR) meaning that converting PR into that engine would be rather pointless.

I say wait for BF3 and the Frostbite engine.

Well I would say it would be less work. Mods that just reskin the game get lots of attention too.
And from what I have seen of OF2 and for sure on ARMA2 I betchya they have people who are regulars on the pR forum ^^even if they are only reading.

oh yeah, no doubt our communities mix...I for one play on doing that.

but at least in my opinion, since Arma 2 is more realistic than PR, than whats really the point....reskins may be popular in many games, but if OPF1 is any indictation, nearly every weapon, vehicle, and overall feature that we have in PR will end up in Arma 2 in the form of partial conversion.

and community wise, how many people are seriously going to chose PR over the vanilla gameplay that can be spruced up with 100's of partial conversion mods.

What PR has going for it, is community. BF2 is a very popular game, and that means we have a large pool of potential players. We would not have that in any other game except for something like The source games, which wouldnt fit since the source engine cant do these types of games.

I say wait for BF3. Frostbite (the engine that will almost certaintly power all future BF games) hasnt been used on the PC yet. But it was designed to do Battlefield games, and we know its very good at destructible environments.

Any engine is fine as long as we get f4str0p3z...then I'm happy

Naaaah, just kidding, let's stay with bf2 shall we?

I wonder if there's a way to use the pods from the transport ships to create fastropes in 2142.

Anyway, I say just wait for BF3 with Frostbite.

If they would migrate the game to some other engine I would buy the game just because of it.
