The topic is to suggest specific firearms for the MEC side. Now be creative with this (not too creative) and try to suggest weapons other than the Kalashnikov seris. In fact lets get the AKs out of the way shall we. Here are ideas on what the MEC could use in their arsenal.

AK-47 Assault Rifle
- A legendary rifle. The abundance of these assault rifles is hard to ignore. Not to mention the increased lethality that comes with 7.62 rounds.

G3 Assault Rifle
- The G3 rifle can be found in the middle east. In fact Iran produces them. So it may be apporpiate to include this weapon in as well. Also note that the G3 is pretty much already in BF2. Perhaps you guys could bring out in one of hte classes.

FN FAL Assault Rifle
- Another famous rifle. What more can I say?

MG3 "Universal Machine Gun"
- A modified version of the famous MG42. Is still used by german forces, as well as exported to nations such as Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Pecheneg Machine Gun
- Availabe for export according to Rosoboronexport. Its a deriative of the PKM seris with modernization aims.

Very nice suggestions, I agree with them all and your reasoning behind including them makes sense too. That Pecheneg makes me drool, just the thought of an updated PKM...

Would you happen to know if the FN FNC is as common as the FAL? That Joint Operations game included the FNC over the FAL and I've always wondered if that was a reasonable decision...

mg 42 is still widly used and considered an excellent weapon

The thing about the AK-74 seris in general is the fact they all chamber 5.45mm rounds which is essentially the weakest in comparsion to other firearms. Maybe AK-74u could be kept as a Spec Ops weapon for the MEC, since there are alot of modifications for it. However I don't think the AK-74M would be a wise choice. The 103 would be a bit more newer in terms of 7.62 assault rifles. The only thing is I never saw it on Russia's export site.

i think the AN-94 could be a possibility



although its an expensive gun to produce, i dont know how likely it would be to see it, it has the 5.45mm but the two shot burst makes up for this weakness.

i doubt Russia would export the an94. its the best rifle in the world

2 shot burst comes out of the gun with extremly minimal deviatoin at 2100 rpm... basicly two bullets hitting you as accurate as a single sshot...

From what I've read, the AN-94 has a nice little two round burst feature. Thats all. Its not much of a quantom leap from the AK-74M. Its much more expensive and alot harder to maintain as well. Not to mention the weapon is only really effective in the hands of a well-trained shooter.

A version of the g3 looks popular with mahdi army. i ve seen loads of iraqis with them,

The best 9mm there is. However, realism factor; when the U.S can't afford them I doubt a army that uses the AK series assault rifles could.

If were to implement one, we would have to skin our own, otherwise we might get in trouble with EA/DICE.

The AK-101 is just an upgraded AK-47 so there is no need for it.

No, the AK-101 is just a 5.56mm weapon. I came to this conclusion due to the fact that alot of players want optics for the U.S and U.K weapons. So in essesence the U.S and U.K side get advance, ranged weapons while the MEC get much more powerful weapons. Being as the AK-47 is not only the most popular assault rifle in the middle-east it delivers a much higher punch than the AK-101. Besides why would the MEC waste their time gathering a bunch of 5.56 ammunition when theres a load of 7.62 calibers around?
