Grenade shells for artillery.

I watched a document about US artillery and some types of it. It had all kinds of crazy heatseeking and other kinds of cool shells. But thats not the special I mean, there were also the grenadeshells. I dont remember the name of it but the explosion were impressive. It was a shell containing small parts of explosives and when it had hit the ground, it blew up and became a firestorm.

Can this be possible? The areadamage could be huge, and normal artyshells would be like fireworks, and when you have one of these, you are going to love the sight when you see the enemies blowing up in a huge firestorm.

That what I heard too, but I can give anymore info than hear say. Right now on the battlefield we use mostly conventional arty shells. Most of the special stuff is left to the flyboys.
