Why are there so many trucks? They are lumbering, vulnerable etc.
e.g. Kozelsck (however the map is spelled) there are loads of them, so many in fact that the logistic truck isnt even needed since a squad takes 2 and can set up a FB, then oesn't bring the truck back
I know they should, and I know there's these great ideas of transport squads, logistic squads etc but thats not a pubber thing.
Pubbing squads = getting as much action as fast as possible.
Therefore, to accomplish this you get a vehicle, you maybe get a FB up, then you get ur rally up and attack. You don't return the vehicle because well, thats boring and takes time.
There is no real way around leaving vehicles around the map in this case, if you decrease the number of vehicles you run the risk of people losing the vehicles and every1 having to walk.
But you can get around the taking of 2 trucks for one squad for a FB, by using the unarmed pickup truck instead of the transport truck. (the one with the skin like a technical but no 50cal) These vehicles would make alot more sense for frontline transport.
For other maps with such transport PR has already put in the alternative vehicles, the unarmed 6 seaters. The landy for Brits, the hummer for US.
This also has the benefit of making the logistics important again as from what I've seen, players are more likely to take the logistic truck back home to get it reloaded at least.

Or, have fewer logistic trucks and make people depend on APCs like they were supposed to. I was expecting that everyone would be riding around in BTRs and LAVs as their primary transport in this release, yet I still see truck fleets speeding across the battlefield with the infantry in the back. I for one can't see why anyone would want a truck over an APC, as it is just as slow and vulnerable, but with less armor, open to gunfire, and no weapons. APC on the other hand is impervious to bullets and has a pwn-all gun on top.

Boredom. In a APC all you see is a little view threw a periscope. In a truck you can attempt to shoot and look around.

And if you are ambushed, you are more likely to die. I have had times where entire squads were shot out of trucks by ambushes consisting solely of riflemen. No grenades, no LATs, just rifle fire.

How about not having APCs on every single map there Cobhris?
People abandoned vehicles ever since I started playing PR so that's nothing new, but a limitation on who can drive the damn logistics truck would be nice, I've seen snipers get one then leave to somewhere, camp on a hill for a while and die, meanwhile vehicles on the field got no trucks to come repair them...

maybe theres lots of trucks so you can actually have crates by all those rallys you place. i hear people complaining alot about not being able to get kits when they spawn at the rallys. hmmm i wonder why, oh i know because people abandon the trucks everywhere and dont drop any crates for people.

Half the time you wont get an apc to come pick you up for a lift, they are too busy ub3rpWninG the enemy in their locked apc groups.

Engineer would probs be good, Its been a couple of times i've found mines on a road, went to the supply crate and found the kits had gone.
At least if he was driving the truck, he could drive up and clear it for me.

Abandoned vehicles are my favorite target now that they cost tickets if you destroy them. I must have destroyed 6 humvees that were abandoned on Karbala...

Best way to counteract "abandoned trucks" is to have a dedicated TRUCKING or LOGISTICS Person/Squad. I frequently do this type of role in a Pub-game, asking for SL's to do ye olde "Require Supplies here!" request, and I deliver.
"Einstein Courier Service - When it positively, absolutely, has to be there, the day before yesterday" =)
- JM40.

Yeah i like to do that aswell, a bit of trucking, littering the map with crates or deliver when asked.
It can be quit exciting actually.

the logistic role is absolutely fun imo
but as I said, its role is made more redundant on maps with lots of transport trucks, i.e. a squad will just grab 2 and set their own FB up and abandon the two trucks.
Making it so only log trucks can give the supplies needed for the FBs would be good, and I suggest that this be done with the smaller unarmed transports.

I agree with you Rudd, and I think half of this problem is the lack of other available transport. Bring back jeeps, problem solved. Cuts down the one manning of trucks and maybe might be useful. Also gives the opportunity for instead of driving a fracking huge truck or going in a loud APC, a bit more inconspicuous.

I mean come on...there are like 8 trucks on kolsesck and there are 4 normal trucks and 2 log trucks on seven gates.
The BRITISH ARE ATTACKING A FRACKIN CASTLE, and to borrow a phrase, "they have no *** and no air"
At least give then one rover with a 50cal
they do on Asad Kahl, and thats just some little village.

Lol, yeah. I can see that the castle would be bombed the hell out of before they even went near there with a truck.

Seven gates hasn the worst truck problem, we once had start a truck saving operation just to prevent the abandoned trucks to be destroyed by the enemy.

Wouldn't simply making the 5-seater Hummer into a 6-seater and reverting the trucks back to engie/officer only solve a lot of this problem?
It's one of the more annoying aspects of the US team... At least with the Brit Rover you can just grab 2 and fully utilize all the seats. But it seems like with the HMMVW you're wasting the vehicle by taking two, and they're not big enough to take one (unless you use the transport HMMVW which is slow and has no defenses...)

both the british and american teams have a 6 seater unarmed varient which would be much prefereable to the trucks.
I made another topic about how the trans hummer is inferior in handling to the armed hummer...which makes no sense at all
