Choose a kit that complements your squad.

I haven't played support gunner in 8 months lol. But when I joined a squad in PR, I realized that it's role is very important for LAYING DOWN COVERING FIRE, which is something that heavy gunners in vBF2 weren't very good at.

Assault and specops are equally as important, as they should be the bulk of your assault force. The heavy gunner isnt very good at firing while standing/moving, but that's why the assault and spec ops are there - they are, as I said, the bulk of your attack force.

With tanks becoming more vulnerable to AT in PR, but still devastating against other infantry, it becomes important to have an AT in your squad from time to time.

Essentially, it all balances out. Choose kits that will help your squad get the job done, and STAY WITH YOUR SQUAD. When I first tried it about a week ago, I was VERY unimpressed. I thought it was just horrible to be honest - I couldn't understand why I joined the mod team. BUT THEN, I JOINED A GOOD SQUAD. It became the best game I've played in a LOONG... LONNNG... time.

Teamwork is so important in this mod, take my word for it.

Agreed! It frustrates me to no end how I'll be right next to a medic or support, begging for ammo or first aid, and they won't even look at me.

Well done you guys keep this up and this will becomce very useful for any new players. I would appreicate it if someone could post install and that kind of general information though. Some more advice.
1. Don;t hog vichels if you suck give them to someone who is better than you don;t worry about the other team taking them they can't.
2. Play your best class unless the SL asks for you to play something different.
3. Support your squad even if you;re Sniper don;t lone wolf it spot for your squad.

Good idea on creating this thread...I am so new I haven't even played yet...but I hope to very soon....It's dowloaded and ready to go.
Total noob question about the run---->crouch--->prone advice. Is there crouch toggle? Or do I have to hold down the crouch button?

Also, how are snipers viewd in this game. Assetts or liabilities? (of course it depends on the sniper, but in general?) I love sniping, but I do pick up other kits as needed by the squad or situation.

As far as crouch- run goes crouch is toggled. Snipers are usually viewed as a asset as long as you don;t go on sniping when your squad needs an medic or another class. As to your squad needing another class use common sense and listen to your SL. If you want to get good join the pr toruemnt and ask some of the players on their to help you if you want i can get online later and help you out if you can find an empty server to join my msn is in my profile and my Xfire is trogdor1289

Stick with your squad. Not only is this what the majority of PR players want, but it also benefits to have a full squad, working together.

Also, keep your spacings if your in a squad together. One nade can to alot of damage.

Sweet thanks for the info. I am really going to have to concentrate on not playing like Rambo...I have that tendency even with the sniper class.lol.

Slow your roll. Being the first one there means you are likely to be the first one killed.

1 question, how do i toggle crouch?
now for the advice
1. if you are a medic and your teammate goes down ELIMINATE the threat first. remember that in most servers you have over 20 seconds to revive your ally

2. have someone cover you when running across and open area. NEVER run down a street with your entire squad in a line. the most people you should cross the street with is 2 at a time (so if someone opens up with a SAW or blasts them with a tank, the rest of the squad will be alive).

3. after your buddy covers you crossing a street, wait for him. give him cover while he makes a dash for it.

4.try to keep at least 3 meters spacing at all times if possible. can't tell you how many times iv taken out en entire squad with less than 15 bullets from the SAW.

5. use flanking when possible. the SAW is very effective at keeping the enemy's head down (you will understand this the first time you are fired upon by it). Sweeping feilds of fire force the enemy to very confined cover making them easy targets for nades or a fire team flanking around their backs.

I hope that helps some and remember the only way to play this game and win is with teamwork.

For god sakes…DON’T BE AFRAID TO LOOSE!!!!

I don’t know how many times I have been playing in a game and one sides is getting their *** kicked or are about to loose and suddenly everyone jumps onto the winning team. Common sense would say “Hey this team is loosing…they need my help” NOT “Hey, this team is losing so I must jump on the other team because I am scared to loose.” NOTHING makes me more mad then people doing this. I’m getting mad right now even thinking about!

You can not win all the time, except it, take the loss, and LEARN from it. But in taking the loss, constructively think about why you lost and what you could have done to prevent it from happening. That way, the next time you are playing in the same situation, you just might come out on top!

GOOD ADVICE!!

doesn't apply more to the Oasis, i have played this many times and been down by alot but come back and won only by a few tickets. its better to come back from loosing to win by a narrow margin than the flatten your opponant since it usually means a better game for everyone. and often even if you loose you still have a much better game since you have to work harder and together.

so loosing isn't bad but giving up is!

I think they're a bit frowned down upon due to the fact that they're seen as a "lone wolf" class. The SVD and QBU-88 are pretty good for medium to long range support again infantry, but the M24 lacks the accuracy to make it a decent rifle for sniping. It's more of a telescope (great zoom on scope) that's best used for reconnaissance.

Too true. While 2/3 of my team was engaging the MEC near the railroad, my squad flanked west, attacked the City from the north, and secured the City. Barely took any casualties. Had we not used this tactic, we would have certainly lost.

Snipers can provide the long distance cover that other classes lack. However you need to:

a) learn each rifle again, and learn how to hit at range

b) be prepared to act like a real sniper, and sit still in a position and wait for the enemy to come to you, rather you expose your location by running around trying to find the enemy.

When you call a medic, don't expect him to run all the way to you, try to get to him.

Also remeber that high kill totals don;t matter working as a team and winning the round does.

DO NOT SHOOT AT THE FIRST THING YOU SEE!!!!!

I have trained myself to spot the enemies before I engage them. Also if you see one guy coming over a hill...don't just start firing...see if he has a whole squad coming behind him and make sure you have the proper load out to efficiently engage the target(s). Why shoot at 4 targets with a pistol if they do not provide an immediate threat to yourself or your position. If someone else nearby has a load out capable of taking the targets down, then have him be the primary engager and you provide secondary suppressive fire. It’s called TEAMWORK and it works!

BASICALLY, think before you shoot. Use your brain and not your trigger finger.

I believe my father told me this except we were covering another subject...lol.

lmao - ya I agree.

I do that a lot, but I never thought that anybody acknowledged this or would be willing to do this.

I don't play for kills - I play for fun. I will let someone else get the kill if they're better equipped to do it, and I'll just hide in the grass if I don't think I can do adequate damage on an enemy. If they're running towards one of our bases, obviously I'll sacrafice my loss to try to take out two of them, or even one to lessen their attack.

The point is, don't play for points. Play for fun and teamwork. What made vBF2 so boring is that everyone was obsessively concerned with score, and it turned out to be shitty in the end. Play for fun.
