Is there any way to make waves?

This is most likely something that the bf2 engine wont allow unless someone is really clever, but I was curious if there was any way to make waves washing up on the shores of beach maps. Take op barracuda for example, it looks really silly how its on an island yet there are no waves at all. its almost like its on an island in a giant lake instead of an ocean. i realize there was never waves in bf2 to begin with, just look at gulf of oman. however, i was wondering if it might be possible to use the same effects used on the rivers in qinling or the waterfalls in op archer. the effects im talking about are the water rapids effects with the water spray and whatnot. perhaps that can be incorporated along a shoreline to atleast somewhat simulate the look of waves?

like waves that are like real waves no I doubt it, but the look of waves like you say I think it could be possible dont see why not

dude but if it could, that would be sick, like make the carrier bounce up and down like in real life.

well im pretty sure having actual waves it out of the question, its probably beyond hardcoded. so yes basically what i meant was the look of waves.

There is an effect for waves, but it does not look so good.

40,000 tonnes of carrier does not "bounce up and down".
However waves (as in whitewash against the shore) would be a nice, if asthetic, addition. Even if the efect isn't brilliant it would add a little bit more atmosphere (besides -you aint going to be standing there staring at them all day!)

Someone could maybe make a special texture like thing that simulates waves washing up the shore. Problem is a lot of maps have different color setting so the texture would look odd.

Thats called an effect,it would be nice, tough i doubt how real it would be and who would make the effect(if it is actually worth the trouble)

i have never been anywhere near an aircraft carrier, but basic physics tell me thats unlikely.
plus it would probably mess with the standing helicopters

that just looks like alot of photoshopping, not actual effects. are those viewable in game?

its possible to have a "wave effect" much like "river rapid" effect that's on Qinling's river but apart from that, there isn't really any other way of doing waves.

There actually maybe waves ingame already I found out, albit very small.
I was playing on Qwai River, and I dropped two supply crates onto a bank of the river, but they ended up sliding in. Well, my squad was there for almost 30 minutes to an hour fighting over the bridge where they fell in. Every 10 minutes when we checked them, they seemed to have drifted to the North, ending up 10 feet were they were previously. Then about another 10 minutes later, they were 20 feet, then etc. We were still requesting kits from them while they were in the water every so often, but I don't think that's what moved them, they seemed to drift on their own. I wasn't even aware that these new supply boxes even float.

Those aren't waves though, it was probably the water direction or/and some untweaked "crate vs. water" settings

so if you had an entire coastline with the river rapid effects would that lag like crazy?

Then perhaps you could tweak it to make waves then? Probably wouldn't work for players, but it really only needs to work for vehicles or objects.
