Map/Faction idea!

Read the news some other day, and came up with yet another horrific idea.
There have been alot of pirates in the southern seas, hijacking ships of all kinds lately, and what a grand setup for an AAS map!!
Idea: US/Coalition vs. Somalia Pirates.
- Scenario example; Pirates have 30 hostages from 3 captured ships, US commander sends in some guys to talk with the pirates. But the pirate commander isnt happy about the deal, so all hostages, US diplomats and TV crew are all executed on live on TV at the pirates dock. - US sends in their force to justify.
I bellieve it could be grand gameplay, and a nice differencial to the dusty/woody wars we are playing recently.
The pirate faction:
- Militia/Taliban alike
US/Coalition Assets:
- Boats
- What id fear the most, would be another Operation Barracuda. Im imagining very high mountains, with trails carved in. Small opennings with sand, huts, palms, pillboxes or whatever. Then hidden from the outside world, a huge modern harbour with high'ish security facilities, stock areas for stolen goods etc. - A mixed and impressive map layout it could become.
Discuss! - Remember its just an idea, and i have absolutely no idea about mapping. I would love to see it happen none the less!

Looks like a nice idea, since the USMC does do missions like this at times why not. Ill try to make a quick layout and see if it looks and becomes any good.

Ok nk87, i will try to make something in L3DT whicl ooks somewhat like this. Unsure if it will be close but maybe Pacific Rebels vs USMC or maybe Royal Marines. Currently it I hope will be 2km but unsure. Give me sometime.

Use the Taliban faction for the pirates and say that the caches represent sensitive material stolen that must be retaken?
I suggest using a real port as a basis?

Guys I said I would "try" doesnt mean im going to go and make a huge nice map right way, I still have my Basra, Iraq map WIP and like 2 other projects in the work.

Harsh with the BF2:SF comment.
Sounds great idea to be fair, you know what ide like to see, you remember the Carrier from the BF2:SF map, the one where the battle was inside the ship, well that in PR would be immense, if somehow they could remap it so it looked like a freigter and like have a battle on it in your scenario or something, would be awesome

Stop being a dork - you just fooled your self by the picture again, but since theres no other ship in BF2 than the carrier its kinda narrowed in init?

It is perfectly alright to whine about how ridiculous this suggestion is. I think it is silly, and you are just being carried away with all the "somolia pirates" news.
Go do this map by yourself instead of just suggesting it. Maybe then, at least I, will take you seriously.

I hope you dont mind, But here is my idea on the map.
If it is used for AAS, There would be specific capture points throughout the map.
Here is the map:

Although, Some of the vehicles that would be nice:
(Marines)
- LAV-25 (Carrier Spawn / Mainland Spawn)
- Supply Trucks
- Humvees
(Carrier Spawn)
- Littlebirds
- Blackhawks?
(MEC)
- BTR-60
- Supply Truck
- IFV

first off... Boarding ships is not the business of conventional forces, that's SF shenannigans. If there had to be a fight against somalian pirates, it would be on the ground/shore, not on ships (whereas it'd be SF / naval warfare). And anyway, pirates won't go as far as fighting against well armed ground/naval forces. They'll just run away and find another less defended ship to board, they're not retarded.
Second, we do have a map in somalia, some already guessed wich one it is. That's how it should be represented in PR, not like some weird landing on an island full of pirates. Anyway, pirates aren't dumb enough to set themselves on an island like that, they're in mainland somalia, in port towns.
Last, maybe you should try and MAKE the map rather than dump the idea on the forums like anyone will be kind enough to make your dreams come true. Try yourself at mapping, then maybe your idea will end up gaining respect. But right now, not only is it farfetched, but it is also pointless.

You can in a very easy way already do this. Using insurgents as Somalian pirates and adding a skin pack. and your got everything you need.
As far as your map lay out I would stick with a real world location. What you put down (I know its just idea) is not something we would like to have in PR.
In fact this factions/or AO was talked about. So my opinion is go ahead and make the map, factions can be added easily.
Here would be my route to PRing:
- Find a real location, try google earth
- Base your map off of that (doesnt have to be 100%)
- Things not to worry about (faction & vehicles)
- Build Build Build
- post weekly update, the Devs are always lurking and reporting

I understand the part that find this post pointless, but what i wanted to do. Wasnt directly make a MAP that should be like this and that. ยจ
But to bring up ideas for the mappers out there, do it in a submarine if thats how its supposed to be done. I just liked the idea of a "Pacific rebel" faction, lets call it that since everone hammers "pirate" as something pulled out of a Black Sam movie!!

If it were to be done, I would rather see it as Royal Marines as we have a lot of USMC/Army maps atm. And there would be very little to do to create the faction (reskin the officers berret and thats it as all equipment is the same).
