I thought I saw somewhere that BF2 will have ranks taht you progress through.... well can we do this through Class?

Rifleman -> Rifleman 2 -> Grenaider
M16/Frags > +Smoke > +203

Medic -> Combat Medic -> PJ
M4/Med > + d-fib > +Speed

A.R. -> MG
m249 > m240

you get the idea

Im strongly against any sort of weapons advantages as rank increases. IRL you dont get to choose your weapon, and you arent given better ones as your rank increases. In real life you're issued a weapon and you keep and maintain it untill your out of combat, out of the war. Granted special forces can customize their weapons, but that is a very small portion(that rarely works with conventional forces) of a very large army.
We need class limitations that can be coded so they are to scale with the # of players as maps are.

BF2 does have ranks, but the only thing those should be important in is getting higher positions(that DOES NOT mean better weapons, it simply means a Sergeant will be a squad leaader before a private if both elect to be one, unless the seargent steps down).

Dont expect that kind of "kit changements" you will probably only earn small "gadgets". It probably wont change the gameplay, by having a 4x scope in the place of 2x doesnt mean you will shoot more accurate.

But is it realistic to gain things as you gain rank? That is what matters, as it is a reality mod. More rank doesnt improve anything but that, rank. So it should be this in game, and yes a 4x over a 2x will help your aim over longer ranges.

@Ugly Duck: yeah, but a 4x gives you less overview.

and maybe it's not very realistic to gain things when you gain higher ranks but in real life a sergeant could make a private do 50 pushups when he's not obeying orders and though i'd love to see that in the mod i don't think that's really possible to do/code/make. so if you only gain a better chance of being squad leader that's not really a huge gain i think.
