Number of Bots?

I'm anxious to test out PRSP but am running into a bit of a problem..
When I load a 16 player map and spawn, there are 9 full squads (a total of approx 45 bots, on MY side alone) and it is lagging the whole game to the point where I can't enjoy it. Even when I tweak the bot levels in settings prior to launching a game, I still get the 9 full squads spawning.. anyone know what I am doing wrong? I want to play with just 2-3 squads or so..
