[Suggestion/Question] Vehicular zooming

I remember being astounded by the new way the GLDT, TOWs, and AA emplacements all zoomed in when 0.85 came out. I still love them. I started to wonder why all vehicles with zoom didn't have it. I remember bringing it up on either IRC or mumble once, and a DEV saying it's because of realism.

Now, to get to my suggestion, can all vehicles get the new zoom animation? Aside from being ultra-1337, it also helps to get your bearings when going from 1, to 10, to 50 times zoom.

My question is: Why wasn't it done for 0.85 (ran out of time to code it maybe)? Because of realism? Or if the suggestion is denied, why won't it be done?

Realism, for example

Variable Magnification in smooth transition

An M14 DMR goes from 3-9x smoothly because IRL you twist a knob that smoothly adjusts it.

Variable Magnification in fixed steps

The gunner's day optics on an Abrams has three fixed options,

×10 (narrow field of view)
×3 (wide field of view)
×1 with 18° field of view (close-in surveillance).

Yes, of course it was Jaymz to disprove me :p

But then why doesn't the Abrams have only up to 10x view? And I'm sure other MBTs might have smooth transitions, right?

Since McLuv started about vehicle zooming, can the mouse sensitivity be changed when zoomed in because on 10x zoom it moves too rapidly.
