Accurate Mils Scale on Binocs

On the ***, it says that range marker has already been suggested for binocs but I couldn't find the thread. So, instead of a range marker, why not implement an accurate mil scale onto the binocs and replace the current inaccurate one?

For the mil scale, the formula is :
Height of Target (yards) [2 yards for average soldier] * 1000 / Height of Target (Mils) = Range to target (yards)

The problem is that the reticle will be difference sizes depending on the aspect ratio your monitor is running.

O, OK
However, is there a way for an everyday infantry man to determine the range to a target in PR?

Yards? I thought even the US military uses the metric system?

Could that be corrected with 3D sights for the bino? Like for guns?

Yes, you pretty much use the same formula as you provided but instead of using yards and milliradians you convert it to metres and "notches" (ones used with the binos).

Not that I know of. BF2142 apparently has some fixes in the latest patch which may address the scaling issue. We can hope that BF2 gets the same treatment with its upcoming patch.

It's pretty useful when your SM fields the mighty UGL, however like already mentioned, markers are your friend.

Problem is that SL can only set 1 marker. And the squad might need the origenal marker to stay for meny resons.
and the GTLD has a range finder.
IIRC GTLD dont have range finder anymore.

When spotting targets for any role in a squad, the distance is an important detail to mention.

Bearing, number of contacts, heading, range etc...

After time playing PR, you can kinda guess the range but accuracy with this info is more crucial for certain kits.

I constantly use the grenadier kit so knowing the range to a target when separated from my SL is often troublesome for me.
