New way to denote officers from regular inf

I have seen an m16a4 with a stainless like finish on the receiver and rear sight and was wondering if the officers could carry this instead of the standard black m16 so you can tell who is an officer and who is not more easily.

Yea great, because Officers in real combat all want to stand out as much as possible. They want to let the enemy snipers know that they are the biggest and baddest of all dudes with their silver M16s and golden desert Eagles.
Extreme sarcasm aside. That would be a terrible idea. This is Project Reality, NOT Pimp My Gun.
Why do you need to know who officers are anyways? Isn't it easy enough already? With the big circle icon and gigantic backpacks, how can you possibly miss them? And by knowing a friendly or enemy is an officer or not, what difference does it bring to gameplay? Sniping officers don't cost extra tickets.
And FINALLY I just want to quote you because you seemed to have answered your question on your own!
standard black m16

there wasnt a shine to it at all. it was matte.
and it cant be worse than that red beret the brits wear
the gun was used by a squad leader in iraq
and most officers i see always run around with their m9 out wich is also a dead giveaway

actually...uhm..a good sniper will take the squad leader out if he spots him first. if im sniper and im lookin at 4 enemies ...im taking the guy that can locate my position as a priority target. without a squad leader..the rest of the squad is blind as far as knowing where to attack in most cases. not saying im a pro sniper or anything but yah..squad leaders going to be a high priority target every time im pretty certain.
pimp my gun...rofl..thats funny

Hi Cheezy Poofz, welcome to the forums.
This is a mod that promotes and tries to depict reality as much a possible. Try to show a source for such a suggestion or think it through before posting.
Even if your suggestion was realistic, it wouldn't help you pick out officers at long range and you wouldn't have time at close range to decide who to shoot at.

Actually I'd shoot the medic first! In PR, a squad without a medic is a real LOST SQUAD.
And Pimp My Gun yes haha thx, I try

!

you might..i snipe the SL..then when the medic runs to get him he takes one in the head next...meanwhile if u snipe the medic first, squad leader spots you and the whole squad is firing on you

Well, I dont see why have a silver M16 :\
The M16[Faction Gun] w/ ACOG[Faction Scope] is enough for the fellow, He doesn't need a Grenade Launcher now does he?
Besides, He has a M9[Faction Pistol] on him...
And a lot more gear then the other soldiers... I think the soldier should just have a clover on his helmet or something xD
And to clarify my post, Im referring to the US Army / USMC sides in PR.

I was thinking something along the lines of a neon suit like in Tron.

Oddly enough, the Brits don't have enough ACOG's to go around in Afghanistan so they're issued from the top rank down. Wouldn't be a very distinguishing feature for the enemy IRL but hey....

Don't you mean SUSATS?
Anyway, as people have mentioned they're pretty distinguishable, this isn't Team Fortress where all the classes need to look very different, and it isn't an episode of Sharpe where all the high ranking officers wear gold helmets and the like. As far as I know officers started concealing their rank from the beginning of of the 20th century, and today even generals when they're on the field wear essentially the same uniform as everyone else. Unless you were close enough to see the stars on their uniform, or the fact they're twice as old as any other bugger there, you wouldn't know the difference.

Nope, I mean ACOGS. They're part of a UOR (urgent operational requirement) program by the MoD. Higher ranking soldiers involved in combat operations are getting priority on them, so there's now a mixture of ACOG's and SUSAT's.
