Parachutes

Just a quick one to get the previous thread off the top.

But as I understand people have sugested ejector seats for jets to avoid the whole parachute issue (every pilot being spec0ops no less).

What I propose is, regardless what class you are, each aircraft has a parahute that can be used from a certain altitude (not too high obviously due to map size). Whilst multi-person aircraft will have corresponding 'chutes to the number of passenger seats.

Now I'll clear some things up, this doesn't mean each aircraft has limited 'chutes, but that should a player jump from the designated altitude they can only have 1 'chute. When they land, lose 'chute.
If someone else gets in an aircraft they too will be issued a parachute.

It's not quite an ejector seat, but more of a pseudo replacement.

Like to hear peoples thoughts on this, also questions as I'm aware it may not be veyr clear.

This sounds like a good replacement option to me only coding problem i can see is getting the parachutes to apply when you hop in plane and also getting the parachute option to reapply to the next person to get in if the plane doesn;t blow up. Of course i'm probaly wrong.

Just bail over water. lol

why not just make it so only spec ops or a pilot class can enter planes.

Or an engineer as well? ^

If we ever decide to add a transport or a C-130 or something, it would be nice to have big air drops out the back ;)

What would be nice is to have the Marines do a huge air assault mission. The only way to get people there would be by blackhawks. That would be a badass scenario.

That would be a pretty fun map. The CH-53 gunners would be blasting away to clear the LZ and then the ramp in the back would drop and marines would come running out. Maybe some RPG-7s would fly past.

on the chutes side i recomended a while ago that chutes should be a weapon so you can only use it once, you can use your weapon & if you change weapon splat.

Could you code it so the chutes are pick up kits near the aircraft? Kind of like picking up the .50 cal sniper rifle was in DC? That way if you forget to pick the chute up, you pay the price. I think if it was made into a one use weapon, kind of like the mortar in DC, then you would not have folks jumping from buildings and deploying a chute in under 30 feet.

Essentially that is the idea, make them one use and they are in every aircraft under the seat (along with a flotation device and a book on how to survive a plane crash using only a squirell, toothpick and a copy of 'Hammer Time').

To prevent using for buildings just inlcude an altimude measure, if not above req. altitude chute fails. Only person this affects is Spec-ops and really you could give them a grappling rope to repel down buildings instead.

Lol get MyGver in to teach them how to make parachutes out of a knife, some leafs on grass and some rubber. But seroiusly i think spec ops should get some form of climbing/rappling equmipment because i can;t see them being on top of buildings ectr without two ways down plus it would be awesome to have grappling hooks. But if the altidude thing is the case all the classes can have a parachute.

Well, seeing as how this is a realism mod, I would really like to see chutes deployed from the top of buildings just go away. This game feature is one of the most un-realistic things in the Battlefield franchise. Grappling hooks or zip lines for spec ops is much much closer to right. As for the other classes, well, I just don't see the need for a support class, AT class, Engy or even Medic to be able to use a grapple or zip line. Assault, maybe. Spec Ops for sure. The sniper would be the only wild card since they typically need to be able to get in and get out under their own power in a timely fashion.
