Battle of Attrition gamemode?

not too sure about this idea myself but thought i would bring it up anyway...

with the introduction of ticket loss on destroyed vehicles, this opens out the possible of having a new gamemode which has maps focusing on the elimination of enemy assets rather that the AAS mode that is common in pr at the moment.

the idea is that of a large scale Armour/mechanized engagement (on a map such as Kashan, Ejod, Quinling) with little to no flags to cap

problems i see with it however:

1. is a battle of attrition realistic in modern warfare? (Arab-Israeli conflict was the last time this was done iirc?, otherwise Stalingrad)

2. its a move away from infantry based combat, unless you have a trench warfare based map (think WW1 trench warfare style) which is a possible move away from PR style of game play.

3. would it work/be enjoyable?


TL;DR:

gamemode = less Flags, more vehicle pew pew for ticket drain

opinions/ ideas?

AAS is basically like this until the last flag.

this is just a good battle of quingling map, nither team can move, but both are fighting visicus, or thats how i saw it

Wrong,Main strategy of Israel is not engaging in an attrition war,but in blitzkrieg if you will,and 6 day war is seen as one of the most succesful blitzkrieg operations in warfare.Latest example of attrition warfare might be Iran-Iraq war...Its not popular among any powerfull country,especially if both sides posses WMD

OT:Well in PRT(official tournament) it is like an attrition warfare mode now,because on most of the maps both sides dont want to take risks thus nobody tries to capture a flag its a stalemate whole 2 hours,both sides just sit on their asses and send maybe 1 massive attack on flag+a few behind the line activity.In my experience it is ultimate boredom mode,you wouldnt wanna play,if both teams on Pub are determined to win...


How it'd be like with real example
Barracuda,NATO did a massive drop on Airfield,set up base and stuff there and they did not even try to capture the flag they were supposed to capture,after a while CATA left the flag totally undefended,some action took place around Airstrip but that was all,nobody did anything other than hydra spawns for 2 hours...
