Installed BF2 Non-Expansion

Hey to whomever this may concern,

I recently downloaded and installed in Project 0.85 Core first, then Levels. Just like it was said in the installation. Apparently that's not good enough because I keep getting this error when I try to load Project Reality from my desktop icon:

StaticMesh.fx(2): error X1507: Failed to open source file:
'mods/xpack/shaders/datatypes.fx'

Now I dont have the the xpack folder anywhere in my mods. My guess is you only get the xpack folder if you have the expansion packs. Do I NEED to purchase those expansion packs for the game to work or no? If no, I would like to hear from someone that doesnt have the expansion packs that had the same problem but fixed it. My system specifications are fine and installation was in the same manner as posted

Please help this Marine.

Try to change your video settings just a little bit, it will make BF2 optimize the shaders, that might fix it.

And from what I know, you don't need any of the expansions to play PR.

I must've eff'd around with my video settings for an hour before I dropped all the settings to LOW settings. Still I got the same message and error as before. Is there anyone out there with any more ideas?

I have the BF2 addons, but I don't have a folder called xpack :/

Very strange indeed.

As an owner of every expansion and add-on for BF2, Special Forces, Euro Forces and Armored Fury, I do have an xpack folder in my mods folder on my laptop computer. The xpack folder contains the Special Forces expansion. Euro Forces and Armored Fury are added into the regular bf2 mod folder.

However! On a second computer where I installed BF2, I chose not to install said expansions and additions. And I installed Project Reality .85 core and levels, no problem. I can play PR .85 without said expansions, no problem.

That being said, I don't think you need Special Forces or an xpack folder to play this mod. From there, we can deduce your problem lies somewhere other than lack of an xpack folder.

What does your PR shortcut string read? To find out, right click on the PR shortcut, and click Properties. In the white target box, there should be some text with plus signs and quotation marks. Please copy it all and paste it here for us to see. :)

My PR shortcut string:

"D:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

So I see no problem there what so ever, its getting to a point where I wish you guys were in my area so you could come over and help me figure out this problem.

[R-DEV]Hitperson: I am running 1.41 on Battlefield 2. That was one of the things I downloaded in the installation guide. I did go through the process and download it the correct way. I even downloaded both CORE and LEVELS from Fileplanet with ease. I just dont want to have to re-install but its looking like I might have too.
