This is not going to be a very important suggestion but Id like to see this with the new-release since with every release new l33t-vanilla-kidz0r-noobs are coming to PR.

The idea is to rename the Sniper-kit into something like "Spotter" since it has the abbility to lase targets. And if you ask anyone here in the forums what the primary objective for a sniper is, he will tell you that a sniper has to watch enemy movements and stuff.

So most of the new guys dont get on training or anything...they just hop on server pick the sniper when they found out that they can request kits and go in vanilla-bunnyhopping-instaproning-heash0t-style close-combat which just doesnt work here.

To prevent the sniper (spotter maybe) kit to be taken by every noob we should just nename it to something similiar like I suggested.

I think i would make sense. Discuss

some 12 year old gets on and finds out about kit requests.
he sees a) sniper and he thinks WOOTZOR OMFG ROXORS IN THE BOXORS I GET ONE MILLION HEADSHOTS HOW I MINE FOR FISH, grabs the kit and dies 2 minutes later
or he sees b) spotter and thinks hey, maybe i should do what my squad leader tells me to do and grows up to be an emotionally balanced productive member of society

Mate, changing names is to exaggerate and in the end it would just be lame. Why we could change crewman to zimmer frame as crewman "sounds" to elite.

A noob is a noob, if he doesn't destroy the sniper he would go on to destroy for other squads.
There is no solution to make players act in a certain way.
Some players will just be like this, but hopefully grow out of it.

or just remove sniper kit....

If anything it should be scout or recon or something like that if it were to renamed.

...or do what gazz said, although if anything I'm still with the very simple solution of taking it down to 1 kit per team.

I agree with renaming it.

The kit should be primarily focused on spotting and reconoissance.

Renaming it will not solve the problem whatsoever though.

Just because one's called the crewman kit, doesn't mean I wont use it to WTFBBQPWN guys in CQB.

I suggest not do anything, leave it as it is. Any more kits is stupid, any less it gives less chance of someone who knows how to use it to get one as Mr. Smeg said...

We should bname it: kit with 1 item that is a nude pic of Michael jackson having fun with yoda!

It shouldn't be removed. Snipers are used in today's wars/conflicts more then ever before they are the eyes and ears for the CO in the field if used properly.

Just because some little kid gets the kit and thinks OMG ima L33T sniper and wastes the kit doesn't mean it should be removed, there are some people that play sniper are great with it.

Oh and i think the name should stay the same

If lasing is kept as is then Tbh sniper should be sniper, how it is now, and still with the soflam, and there should be a FAC kit with the soflam and other stuff, but thats for another thread.

Snipers are and asset that I really don't care if people waste. They have almost no impact on the outcome of the game. If you took away the sniper they'd just grab the HAT. Let them waste the sniper kit I say.

A good sniper is a tremendous asset in the battlefield.

ive seen a few "good" snipers, but they have never been a asset to the game.

and as knight says, IMO the only thing sniper kit dose is keep people from taking more valuable kits at that time, and keeps most of them out of squads.

In modern warfare the sniper can play a paramount role.
This starts with (at least in the UK and US armed forces) the relaying of information to his force about enemy assets, installations and man-power.

THIS IS INCREADABLY IMPORTANT in today's theatres of war as it can save countless lives!

Yes, we have a problem with nilla-nub snipers but we know how to avoid them and that they get nothing done, but there is normally one per team so at least its even.

In clan matches the sniper is a very valuable asset as they will take on the role they are meant to, in pub matches.... well if your lucky they will not be a complete waste of space, I have met some really quite good random snipers though sadly few and far in between.

At very most rename the kit to Recon or Recee, but removing it would only see HAT kits and marksmen kits being wasted , and they can be just as or even more useful.

Nope, dont do that, but rename was a good idea.

It's easy, the sniper kit can change a game when used well.

However when used poorly, it has little to no effect on the game, so it's a no brainer, keep it as is.
