Ok. So as we all know by now. There is a mass influx of new players. This is good thing in the long run. But as more player take up the challenge that is PR, Some of the older long time players are getting a little frustrated with "new player syndrome" (nice way or saying n00b). So I have come to ask that if you have in the passed made a video on how to do something in PR. Like say how to drive a tank. Or how to take off in a jet, And so on. If so. Can I use it?

Here is what I plan to do. As some of you know. I Have a side project called the "PR-Downloader" (more info here https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... files.html ). Well in it's next build, I wish to add a nice little Flash.exe movie that has all the game basics in a nice menu for the "New Players" to watch. This video will auto play as soon as the "PR-Downloader" starts to download and install the mod. As the downloading takes a long time no matter how or where you get it. I Feel this would make a great time to teach the new players how to play. This will help out new players in a big way. And save the hair of some of the old gitz who have been playing since build PR.001

So can you help? Do you have a video? The more videos on different subjects I get, the better the video will be. If you do have one. Please post a link below and the names of who made it.

Naice! I wanted to do a flash screen like you suggested a while ago but decided I wanted to do text-tutorials first!

I might make one for this project though! As one movie is far less work than a whole tutorial bunch!

Its a good idea to integrate it with the PR downloader. You got any statistics on how much it gets used? In my oppinion only the PR vets use it since they are on the forums and know of the existence. If the DEVS could somehow agree to put this on the main site as the main download tool than it would really help.

As of right now. I Have a count of 196 completed downloads. Not a really high number really. But as you say. Only pepole on this forum have seen it. And only today somebody was using it to install. So the word is out about it. There is talk about using it in a bigger capacity in the next release of PR. But is a long way away at this time. And not something to worry about here. Remember, It is still a young system.

As for you guys making videos. That is great news. I Thank you for taking the time to make them. And I will of cause be on call to act/stunt/get killed/extra in any of them.

The more of these type of videos we get. The less chance of everybody suffering from "New Player syndrome".

Cool Cool! Yea I know its a young program (and a really cool one as well ) but I was more thinking along the lines of making it worthwile to put the videos in next to it.

The goal is to train the new guys. And the new guys will probably just pass it by going to the website. So if its not that big of a hassle to put them in, or you really want to put it in than I'd do it. But if not I'd just go for a flash website or page where you can acces them (Or both!)

If you plan on making a series of shorter videos, or compiling a series of shorts into one, I would love to help out. Me and my friend often (as often as possible) team up on armor maps and usually do a great job in tanks or apc's, so maybe him and myself could work together on the armor section of the video.

So yeah, let me know if you want me to work on an armor tutorial video, or if it's already been done.

That's what I am going for. Short Basics videos about how to get in a tank and why the gun does not move for 30 secs and so on.

Hey Oddsods, before I begin, I just want to know, shall I make the video as a stand alone feature (i.e. intro, credits, etc) or should it be made so that it will be pieced together with other videos made?

Regardless, we should strive to achieve a level of consistency for things such as fonts, colors, music and the like. So anyone else interested in helping please post up so that this can be achieved successfully.

Well. This is a good point. Style and font are not so important. As for the credits. I Plan to make a extra movie just for that with everybodys name listed. So just make the content it self and leave the credits and when you are done, Just give me a text file with the names of all who helped you make it. they will get put into the "credits" movie.

Yes, however overall it will look alot better if all videos follow some set conventions.

I have started my Armor vid now, for titles and the like I am using just generic white font on black with no effects, which I can change at a later date to fit the said conventions.

Now, do we have any other volunteers who wish to make a video?

is it an idea to create a subject list so we know what needs doing? Some subjects arent really good for dummy's (too advanced) so lets come up with a list like:

Basic squad movement
loading up in the game
Selecting a server
selecting the right squad
selecting the kit
basic vehicle gameplay

squad-leading

hmmm..Not sure if it would be a good thing to get totally new pr players in to squad leading already. maybe in the advanced videos if we ever plan on doing that
