It would be nice if it was possible to mod the hook so when you pressed secondary fire you dropped the hook part where you're standing and threw the line out infront of you, that way you could use it to climb down buildings easier.

uhm, it's pretty much like that allready, say you stand on the edge of a roof and want down, you simply press rmb and it will land with the hook on the roof and the rope will almost allways fall down vertically.

quick tap of rmb and its dropped

The easiest way to get down is to stand a few feet away from the edge and then just lmb and throw it down.
Then you avoid the whole rope falling down.

Walk up to the ledge, tap the right mouse button, and the hook drops at your feet while the rope is given a slight amount of momentum and travels just far forward enough to clear the ledge and make it to the ground.

Indeed, although the distance molotovs move needs to be extended, I've yet to drop one straight down off a building without it toasting me.

Okay then it doesn't work for me, cause when I press RMB nothing happens.
Maybe a bug? I can't change the volume slider for effects either, it's stuck on 100%.

tap not press

like a grenade, tapping the RMB will put it at your feet... at a roof will put it to the ground.

Locking as this is already in the game.
