Im still wondering this question because everyone says so, but Ive pplayed Al Barash on a number of ocassions and there has never been a Merlin on this map (maybe it was there befor im not sure), the only map ive ever seen the merlin on was battle for quinling. Could someone please give me an upto date on wich maps have the merlin.

The merlin was there before the lynx came.

yep, the Lynx suits Basrah's gameplay better than the Merlin.

the Merlin can be found on only Qinling at the moment, pretty much every single layer and the Lynx can also be found on Qinling on some of the 32 and 16 player modes of some game modes.

I think another reason for lynx to be used is that some people are still getting merlin bug

Merlin has, by far, the best sound EVER.

Plus its sexy... and faztropezz works on it.

And it doesn´t handle like a high speed missile.

Merlin looks like chinook and at 0.9 or 1.0 there will be chinok[not sure maybe, there should be harrier too]
well the good thing at merlin is the grappling hooks[for expirenced players] because if you click E from special position from hovering merlin you can use grappling hook but its hard. but merlin is very laggy

thank god the merlin is removed, the merlin lag was utterly diabolical.

And just when u thought it was over.... we now have the APC bug in its place, lol.

Helicopters handling like missiles is good? Why not have jets like UFOs and tanks that do 50 foot jumps? I don´t get it.

Regarding the Merlin I don't mind it as long as it's not bugged.

I don't know how real helicopters handle since I haven't piloted one but comparing the PR choppers to a missile seems pretty ludicrous to me.

too bad no servers play qinling. atleast not any servers by me.

I miss the Merlin because it was a treat to fly. I don't know if Lynx is superior given the very small scale of Basrah. True its easier to land on a rooftop with Lynx but then it has no ability to drop any kind of support create or ammo so you really miss the Merlin.

Merlin could easily get you anywhere and was great for dropping 2 crates over two trips to a soon to be FOB position, especially useful if all the Logistics trucks are gone or in use.

Lynx is also hard to handle. More likely to get destroyed on liftoff.

I personally love the lynx but feel it would be better for Quinling than Basrah, but only as a replacement. If you could have both Merlin and Lynx on Basrah it'd be great.

Merlin does fly like butter and merlin lag is the result of crappy hardware. I had it on my crappy old family computer and with my awesome new rig it never had any lag whatsoever.

Im no military expert, but I dont think that the merlin is used in urban area's for extraction/insertion.

Not sure though.
