switching weapons

I dunno if this is possible but when you switch guns can you guys make it so the gun goes around your back. You know like in CSS. Its really cool and adds more realism. This kinda works with the anti tank weapon but its constantly there even when you have the weapon out.

the reason why the AT constanly there is cos its part of the player just like his helmet ect.
I dont think this is possibal with the limmits of the BF2 engine but im not a coder/animator.

well if we could get the visual clue that would be nice, adds to overall immersion (something which DICE is really clueless about). But unfortunately the engine might not have the capability, i am not sure either, maybe one of the editor user can tell if it's within the engine's capability?

Glad I'm not the only one who wishes for little things like that to be fixed :B I really hope it's possible, or at least that there's something that can be done to make it a bit more real in that aspect...

It is probably doable but may take a shitload of work as there will have to be a ton of new animations made for every model and the workload is already a bit high for the team.
I will not cry or throw a tempertantrum if someone in the know tells me I am totally wrong here though. I would also love to see some ort of animation for the weapons change...

I would love to see para weapons and anims with folding rifle...uhhhh
And i would like to see stripes attached to weapons... i doubt that soldiers carry their guns ALL the time in the hands...

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm on the battlefield I'm watching the enemy, not my team mates. I can sleep perfectly fine at night despite the fact my allies don't actually put their guns anywhere, something I hardly notice anyway. I don't play for the eye candy, I play for the action.

Heheh freak

I love guns and it's anims.. in DoD or CSS when i have some ugly model i can't focus becouse i am thinking all the time :
"OMG WTH WTF ? Why it is so ugly..."
Weapon just need to look right... rifle must be looking like something proffesional and ready to make harm to the enemy.. even virtual one ;]
Or rather specially virtual one...

I must admit, everytime I reskin my weapons on CS 1.6 I always start using them more purely because they look awesome. Eye candy's awesome, but as I said it doesn't help you in the heat of battle.

All i was asking for was to add the gun to the players back when he switchs to his side arm or something...

i doubt it will happen, i know as of right now, eye candy animations are not on the top of PRs list. and to make all this look right it would require lots of new animations.
and in fact, talking about all this, anyone ever look on the back of the support on MEC, he has 2 PKM cases on his back at all times, its pretty funny =)

I noticed that when an MEC assault guy (probably others too) reloads, the third person animation shows him taking a magazine from a pouch, but we know from the first person animation he's actually flipping the mag. I think we could use new animations for that soon, it's terribly
unrealistic that you can keep flippin' that magazine without it ever running out. Perhaps a magazine switch animation could be played on every other reload? That way you only get
two uses out of a
double magazine.

I doubt its possible. Theres not much interaction with weapons and the player model. The kit is like a holding area, code wise, for the guns. So, when one is out the others are in holding and really don't have any affect on the player. Animations only work on weapons that are being used, so the gun wouldn't stay where you put it once its put away.
I don't think DICE even lets you do animations for switiching weapons. Your old one just disappears and the new one plays the deploy animation. Sorry guys, doesn't look possible and probably isn't worth the hours of experimenting to find out if it is (small chance).

Dam you Dice and your crappy engine!
