just as many great empires have crumbled will PR have to submit in the next year or so to ARMA2 developers are bound to move to the greater flexabilty or ARMA2 and what can PR offer the gamers of all but we the old computer guys, i gotta 2ghz amd and a 512mb ram i looked at the ARMA2 site and wow it seems realism is takin a new turn into almost a RPG of combat what are your opinions? Particularily if you are a developer or run a fast setup?

everyone said before ArmA came out that ArmA would crush PR and that was like when PR was in .4 or .5, soo much has came from then and what is the outcome? ye PR has at least double the players of ArmA....
ArmA or ArmA2 simply dont offer the same thing PR dose.

PR has something the reality sims dont have thats the social aspect of squading up. Its like WoW no one would have played it if it wasnt because of the social aspect.

After what I've seen OFP2 will be the only thing I'll look into but it will never stick like PR.
There has to be more than just great looks. Never played a game more than I play PR, and I'll stay with it until it fades out.

When I visited the Himalayas a couple of years ago, I met this very wise monk who told me that "Gameplay > Graphics".
- Of course, most game suffers a slow death.
However as long as the gameplay stays fresh, and delivers something other games don't; players will stick around.

Oooh PR2, that would be so sweet.
I have really lost faith in the gaming industry, the professional developers keep making games unmoddable, killing off most gamers favourite part of gaming.
Especially since they're too busy making new games to fix the bugs in the ones they've released, and never add anything new to them.

A little silly to make a judgment about a game that hasn't even come out yet. That and the numbers are against you. How about re post this when the PR servers are dropping off like flies

Erm... in reply to this post... no.
PR is the best and most popular it's ever been, and basing your idea that PR is reaching the end of it's lifespan for a game that isn't out yet... :\

I think pr will end its lifespan because the crappy engine has everything hardcoded

so much would have to change to make a PR 2 i.e. and brand new engine with less hardcoded limits and better graphics i love PR but i mostly play it cuz i dont pay more than 10£ for a pc game ever and i have a really old computer.

All other games I've bought for 40+ dollars that have promised a unique FPS experience have Failed except for maybe cod4 and TF2 which are nowhere near the level of PR gameplay, so to wonder when this Mod that is FREE is gonna reach it's end is like living your life thinking about death, waste of time.
There will be a time where the engine will be just too old, but when I hear ppl talking about 512mb and 1g RAM, then you know not evreyone has a fast machine, so that's gonna take a cpl years IMO

Well I was instantly addicted to PR after I played it (after that whole PB thing at first). I haven't played any of my other FPS games since I started with PR and I don't really want to.
On the subject of reality games, some people told me if I like PR I would really like ARMA. So I bought it, installed it, and played it. They lied to me.
So back on topic, I am a new recruit with v .85, and I play almost everyday and I'm always in a full server. The game seems to be going good to me.

They Won ModDB
EDITORS and PLAYERS Choice Award. They will be alright for a while I think.

I have to agree with that one. There is only so much more that PR can do really. Unless they use that new engine.

That doesn't save them, unless they use the new engine.

Project Reality....going.....to....die?
Blasphemy!!
WE SHALT FEED YOU TO [R-DEV]RHINO!!
In all seriousness, while I do agree that the BF2 engine does greatly limit the freedom of this mod...I do have faith that the DEVs will be able to push the bar farther and farther until PR is everything they imagined it would be and more.

SILLY comments- i am a BF2 player and have been for about 4 years now- different accounts- got bored tried again, sick of hackers ...... usual story- tried PR in 2006 and got pizzzzed off because no-one would help me play the game. Came back to the UK and found out about ABA. I was with a bf2 clan at the and spoke to a current R-Com. Never looked back- more and more people are leaving the BF2 gaming community and joing the PR community. Personally, i cant see another game, no matter how good graphically, overtaking this game- too freindly!

Looking at the videos of ARMA2 is doesn't look like the game play has changed much (ridiculously clunky in my experience of ARMA1) so PR (or PR2) shall prevail!
Just get cracking on the new engine, R-Peepl so I can play!
Punk Buster has ruined my life! You hear? Ruined it!
I just read: "The Xbox 360 Version of the game may come out as late as the 30th of June 2009" -
XBOX 360 = Fail!
