On-Off Firing Mode for Miniguns/Safeties for HMGs on Helicopters

Ok, I realize I haven't played in a bit(sound system isn't online, gameplay sucks in a monoset) but I think I have an idea for the recurring smacktardism that is shooting the guns on the helicopters at spawn and being stupid
Safeties and power cuts:
All machine guns have a safety as does all miniguns have an electric shutoff to the motor.
Now my idea is this:
When you jump onto the gun, it starts off in a weapon slot that's empty, simulating a safety that's on, or a minigun that's off. Now the thing will still have the however long startup time, I guess 1 minute so it has some pertinance to the helicopter reaching full power minugun wise, but also since there's no need to shoot when the thing can't even move. Then when the warmup time is over you can switch the minigun motor to on/turn the HMG safety off
Now the second part which I'm not sure about
WHen you turn a minigun motor on is it likie a lightswitch where the thing will alawys be on unless an issue occurs when you turn the switch? because if that's what the mingun is like would the barrels be turning all the time? Im not sure about how a minigun works past what I've seen on TV in Videos and ingames. So if someone could tell me that if the gun is always turning I think we cuold figure out whether the gun should be instant shoot like the HMGs or if it's about fine as it is now.

+1!
Just because the motor is on, it doesn't mean it is engaged or spinning at all times; I get the impression that there is no perceivable 'spin-up' on mini-guns, that the motor engages when the trigger is pulled.

For one its re suggestion someone just suggested safety's on guns yesterday.
Secondly if an idiot is going to be an idiot a safety won't stop him, because he would have to turn it on him self.
Like I say in all the threads like this we should not be building the game on the premise of noobs doing noob stuff, the game should be being constructed on the premise of people actually playing it correctly.
Noobs will stop playing in a month or two and most of us will still be playing like we always have and I can tell you any change that has been made to stop noobs from doing noob stuff has not stopped anything at all it just makes the game more unenjoyable for people who have been playing since early stages of the mod.
programing a whole new fire mod would do nothing what so ever, want a safety? keep your finger off your mouse button.

Players are hardcoded, dude.

That didnt help at all you realize this?
This is for the people who WONT keep their fingers off the trigger hope you realize this and no noobs wont go away cause its a recurring thing, new people come in older new ones go out, and some of those that are just smacktards dont leave. This is for those people. And truth be told it isn't an unrealistic suggestion, read any book that includes a helo with miniguns, you'll hear someone say guns going hot so while they think they aren't in a hostile zone, they will keep them off or safetied. And yes players are hard coded like edmister so helpfully chimed in.
Also this is a manual only thing, since most peole dont read that most won't realize there is a safety so someone is going to be flipping out why he can't shoot until someone tels ihim why.
(its midnight here, Im tired thats hwy my typign isn't so good)

Real life proves that even a safety on a gun can't stop stupidity.
There are some intelligent idiots out there! Nothing is idiot-proof. A safety might make helo guns a bit more idiot-resistant, but they can never be made idiot-proof.

would be cool if the pilot could switch the safety on and off. but i think this is neither a priority nor doable

But the M134 actually can go from not spinning to firing in a very, very short period of time.
Besides, I don't see this as stopping anything. You're talking about people who will wait twenty minutes to steal a super asset only to purposely crash it. A one minute warm up time won't stop people from shooting the guns at nothing.

What if the pilot is an idiot and blocks the guns because he wants to make the gunner angry?

How about this,
- The pilot has a button he can press to lock the safety on the guns
- The button is not advertized anywhere ingame, only in the manual or the winki (whenever thats up)
- Helis start with safety OFF and only a pilot who knows the magic button will know to turn it on.

Ok scenario time: Blackhawk goes to drop a squad off, pilot gets shot out of the cockpit. The squad stays to defend the helo while a pilot comes to rescue it. Insurgents are coming up on the side of the helo and WTF NO MINIGUNS. It's a bad idea imo.

No. People firing off my miniguns is gay, but not as gay as it would be if a noob pilot decided to lock it at a bad time.
Safeties on personal weapons are a bit different though.

Why not have the machine guns on the helos have a 10-30 wait time so they can't fire until the chopper is in the air. would but just as good as a safety.

Yeah I said a minute since that's how long it takes to power up the helo, so when the helo cna move the guns can switch on, and shoot

Bad idea. What if the gunner switches to the other seat?
