Teamwork That needs to be Addressed

This mod, as far as i understand, is all about teamwork. Most of the time i see great teamwork, however the close teamwork is only ever really within squads. Often you will see a map and there will be squads dotted all over the place, not because they have all agreed it will be a good idea, but simply because the SL thinks thats where they should go.

What I am saying is that the teamwork needs to be on a higher level as opposed to just the SL communicating to his squad members. The commander is rarely played and for good reasons, its hellishly boring... and so there is no way for squads to communicate to one another.

I know this has been talked about before, but i have yet to see any solution. We have mumble, but not everyone uses it. Then there will be people saying 'well go on a good server and you will have a commander' well unfortunately there are not enough 'good' servers and this is not just to satisfy me, it is for everyone playing the game.
If the devs could come up with a solution that could be used by everyone, not an outside programme, but something actually implemented into the game then it would be a vast improvement on what we have already got.

This needs to be addressed because at the moment there are lots of empty commander slots and lots of wandering squads....just five minutes of your time every day could solve this problem..Please donate kindly

The low-tech answer is the Caplock map.
If you have good SL the the objective is usually clear.
So open your map and take a flank of another squad.
A quick text to them and you are now 12 people moving.

If you can get 2 other squads to link up and move together you sweep the area of enemy rallies and are able to put a lot of firepower on any contacts while still having some reserve to cover the flanks.

Would it be possible to create a marker for squadleaders that could be seen by other squad leaders but not the squadmembers ?

I think some things should be removed for some reason to help increase team wide teamwork.

Except the only real solution is server admins and the people playing.

I agree, but I think the solution is really overhauling the commander system, so it can be more fun. However there is still the problem of squads not listening to CO orders... Not to mention all those black hole squads that piss commanders off. Admins need to start kicking people who are in black hole squads, if they don't listen to CO orders. So admins this means stop playing the damn game, and do your job.

Nothing needs to be removed. Removing anything from the mod will not help squad communication.

I love to play PR and I like to see to see some higher teamwork in it, but I refuse to use mumble

It's not perfect, but what do you expect from free, Open-source, software that has to be dovetailed with a variety of games?

It does everything vent / TS does, AND MORE. I fail to see what the haters' problem with it is TBH. People ask for communication between squads - you can't do that with VOIP (Hardcoded), so we have a tool that allows people to do it. And what do people do? Whinge about it.

Crazy...

The thing about mumble is that you can speak to the people around you, which is what I really like. Even if you're in a squad of 6 comms can get flooded with uneccessary information. I wish clans would use it more, because I find just getting on TS can get pretty spammy at times. Nothing agaisnt TS, but I find mumble to be much more flexible and intuitive, because positional audio is needed.

BTW, is anyone working on getting it completely incorporated into pr? I know the DEVs said they were hoping to do it, but who is doing it?

TBH the only feature I find that would be REALLY vital is auto-joining the right server. Alt-tabbing tends to cause BF2 to CTD if done repeatedly, so it's a real pain making sure I'm in the right one. Auto squad-leader promotion to the main channel would be nice too, but not essential. Maybe automatically putting people into different channels so you can't overhear enemy chat would cheer some of the neigh-sayers too.

That's what I'm looking for, mainly. And the ability to hear positional audio when not in a server.

Ah, yes - that's pretty major, cutting out the accidental server-wide chat due to not being located on the map yet (start/end of round, and the occasional bug)
