Is the Merlin ever going to feature in the game?

The RAF and Navy are now switching to it as thier main transport and support helicopter. I can have up to 5 GPMG's (General Purpose Machine Guns) and it also looks awesome and handles amazingly!
Can carry 30-40 heavily laden squaddies but usually much less to save on fuel. Can also carry an armoured land rover, motorbikes or quad bikes either underslung or internally. Its pretty awesome I can tell you! Please Please add? :)

i hope it carreis atleast 7 peeps? 2 gpmg's i think are on it aswell for definate. Would be cool if you could get it to carry landrover!!!! that would be amazing! but quite difficult -any chance?

P.S i would be very grate full if some one could find me some decent pictures of a modern, armoured landrover, the ones used in iraq at present. I have only found like 2 or 3 small images but would be good to have some proper ones?!? thanks alot.

thanks alot, if squads size remains as 6 and nto 8 (after seorius debate, then to be told it aint poss) we should consider making it carry 9 OR 13.

I really want a light armoured landrover, 2 in front, 4 in back. I saw a pick with 2 guys sticking head out of roof, mabey 2 of the 4 guys at back could do the same. would be funny.
O, but we do have the Saxon, so mabey not.

I don't think its possible to fit more than 6 people into a vehicle, being only 6 buttons for positions. (F1-F6)

that is some very indepth and clever reasoning, i belive it should be Pr's objective to smash this 6 barrier usingh their supreme intleligence and of course WIT! that sort of defeatists attitude by you fullforce is most unusal, pull your self together and throw you self at that problem with every inch of strenght and cleverness in that body of yours, and solve, solve, solve!

There's quite a few varients of the Land Rover that's used. You have the armoured 'snatch wagon' that I think you mean with the 2 top cover on the top (they took them all of us in Northern Ireland and sent them to Iraq), the WMIK (Weapons Mount Installation Kit) which is the open-top one with the GMPG and .50 Cal/GMPG/MILAN, and about 20 different versions of the normal Defender 90/110/Wolf for different roles, like Rebros etc.

If you have looked about and had a nosey at previous PR news topics (from last year), you will know what version of the Land Rover will be in PR 1.0 :D

Regarding the Merlin, it's already planned, like Wolf has pointed out :)

You put two vehicles into the vehicle.

Now you've got 12 seats!

(BTW, that's how the Forgotten Hope team made their C-47 Skytrain)

How armoured is the the msot armoured UK army landrover, not a realy really special one but a slightly common one. Is the landrover not that well designed to take heavy body armour addons?

I hear that a decent layer of kevlar is standard. I supose solid protection is possable.

i heard that msot had something silly, like somesort of plastic or mademade fire *not kevlar, that clearly would not stop a 7.62. I dont get why they jsut dont attact 5 mm of steel to the side, around doors and stuff, cant be that heavy in small amouns and if posistion correclty. 5mm would provied quite good protection i think!?!

Top: even assuming the plates are within the vehicle's weight limit, u then have to consider the vehicle's stability. Putting large weight above it's centre of gravity isn't the smartest thing really.

I wathced a video where they did that, it had the handling of a 2 tonne children bike! it was funny, they bolted metal plate to all the sides and then fired a LSW at it and a magnum. It worked but it was about half as fast (full speed was only 80) and could make a 90 degree turn in on a 1 km gradual corner!

The British had (maybe still have somewhere) a similar vehicle called the Longline or Cobra Light Strike Vehicle. However, during Operation Desert Storm the LSV proved to be a disappointment. A special operations version of the Land Rover, a modernized "pink panther," is still used by SAS mobility troops. Versions of a vehicle called the "SupaCat" have also been suggested for use by UK special operations forces.
