hey guys i thought i could mention that i found a really weird bug today.

when i was gonna make a squad on a server on the map Korengal Valley i couldn't make it, not even with normal name or pressing Insert (Ps it was the same on any other map where i joined a server with a round just started or ongoing).

when a new map loaded up problem solved(sometimes i think) but i still think it's really weird and akward.

is this an individual case or has anyone else suffered from this nasty little bug?

-There's a vBF2 bug(Squad Bug) that, if you try to start a squad before the timer begins(03:00) or right after it starts the side the squad was made on will be unable to make any new squads. This is why you get the server text stating that you shouldn't start a squad until 01:30.

-However, I don't think the squad bug goes away at map switch(I might be wrong here), and another possibility is that you either voluntarily teamswitched or were force-switched when you were loading in. When this happens you will be unable to make a squad until you spawn on the map. Did you try to make a squad after having spawned?

Its not because they made it before 1:30, iirc it is because they loaded and tried to make (or something similar) before the server, or 2 squads where trying to be made at the same time with the same name.

Like alex said its has nothing to do with the 1:30 mark it is because multiple people try to make multiple squads of the same name at the same time, usaully when all the noobs connect they instantly press create squad which is turn creates multiple squads named Alpha and this breaks the whole squad system. Really waiting till 1:30 to make squads make this worse since everyone is gonna try to make the squad at 1:30 giving more of a chance to get bugged.

Sometimes the Squad bug doesn't go away unless you restart the gamemode/restart the server. Real pain to take care of.

i waited til 1:20 until i was trying to make a squad, i even tried once NOT to switch teams and it still occurred ><.

now it's just lame TOO dam lame to not be able to make a squad i wonder if it really is an VBF2 bug or something unique to PR 0.856?.

at least i can still JOIN a squad or I'll be kicked from virtually every server i would enter cause they saw me as a "lone wolf".

if i could become a virus i would just go out and this stupid bug and all bugs in the mod and vanilla for that matter from all computers and the whole net.

(i think some of you would support me for this)

Are you sure? Most servers have the 1:30 rule in effect.

Just to try and organize it a bit, its not the magic time or something.


Edit, here is a post from a DICE guy from their forums.

Probably won't help prevent it but the squad creation problem is an odd issue caused by a few things.

The root of the cause is that if for example you create a custom squad called CHARLIE but are the 2nd squad to do it (BRAVO) then the HUD things that because there is a CHARLIE squad there should be another. Of course when the 3rd squad wants to be created it also wants to be CHARLIE so stops it from happening.
This combined with auto team swapping etc causes it to show more frequently. As you have said it is annoying and needs a server restart to get it working again.

on 10th community's servers it happens from time to time that squadbug is there since some one before must have made a squad before 1:30 in an other match now every time on a server i remind the guys NOT to make a squad until under the given limit.

some of them don't give a dam and make a squad even at 2:00

i hate em cause the risk of the squadbug is so damn high, it's like they play russian roulette without knowing either the rules or what's at stake

But squad bug has NOTHING to do with 1:30. It will occur if you try to make squad before you or the server hasn't properly loaded up the map.

Aye, if the timer is going down then it should be clear, but to be safe, wait till 1:30 and you won't get booted by admin.

Did you even read the thread? it has nothing to do with waiting till 1:30.......

Then why do some servers like Vrginnia have 2:30 then?

well lads just to be on the safe side i'll wait till 1:20 before i make squad like i've always have done before.

but well i really do hope the amazing crew at Blacksand can nail this bugger so we don't have to worry about it, until then we should pay attention to when we make a squad and watch that clock more often before we do something that can go haywire.

EA is doing their best as well but i trust the BSS more.
