I would like to know wether the Dev team have overcome the fact that the unlocks cannot be used and if you have began/finnished a totaly remade class selection screen.
I ask because a Designated Marksman looks to be an important part of PR with infantry becomeing more squad relient and a soldier who can hit an enemy at distance will become a need.
If any suggestions like weapons and kits and such are out there i think they should be a part of this.

Ok, nice one team.
There is some confusion over weapons of the USMC Marksman's rifle, i thought they use the M14/M21 for this role but everyware say's the Mk 11 Mod 0.
Also the L86A2 seems to be takeing the British role as the marksman rifle with its long barrel and is still used by troops anyway.
The Dragunov SVD or Vintorez could be the MEC version or just an AK with a scope.
China's Type 88 could be used too but i dont think there is a replacement for the sniper rifle.

It depends on the size/type of unit and the availability of equipment, Pence. The USMC M14 Designated Marksman Rifle wasn't intended for regular rifle squad designated marksmen/advanced marksmen, though it has made it down to rifle company and rifle platoon level in some units. Most of the DMRs are with the Military Police Special Response Teams (SRT), Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachments, Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST) Platoons, Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) Platoons (scout-snipers) and other specialized units. It will probably be phased out eventually by the Mk-11 (a variant of the SR-25) because of the difficulty of maintenance.
The designated / advanced marksmen in many USMC rifle squads use the Squad Advanced Marksman Rifle, or SAM-R. It is an M16A4 fitted with a commercial match-grade barrel, floating rail interface system and a variable power telescopic sight. The West Coast Marines have made do with the M16A4 and ACOG combination for their SAM-R, thus far.
The SVD was designed as a platoon/squad level DMR anyway and is probably the most common weapon of that type in service around the world. It is produced under license or knocked off in quite a few states, including China (Type 79/Type 85). It will remain the MEC's DMR.
As for other options, the Iraqis manufactured the Tabuk Sniper Rifle (just about all of their local-produced Kalashnikov variants were called Tabuk), which was sort of a ******* child of the SVD and the AKM. It fired/fires the 7.62 x 39mm round of the AKM, essentially being a longer, heavy-barreled version of it with a PSO-1 type scope and "skeleton" stock.

Interesting, I knew about the SAM-R but i thought mabey (Because i could get no accurate info) it had been replaced.

Remain?
And also Eddie, do you know what the British Army officialy uses as there marksman rifle or have they anounced the L86A2 to this role?
If not, the L86A2 should be included anyway because it is still in use and could fill the marksman slot for the British forces.

The SAM-R is no where close to being phased out. It is issued standard on the squad level in the USMC.

This is a problem too, Instead of the USMC and USarmy useing the same equipment, they use different stuff.
Just like the old FNC and AR70 use 5.56mmx45 (M193 or SS109) ware as the M16 uses 5.56mm NATO, its the little things that piss you off.

At the moment Pence, British forces don't actually have a DMR rifle. Its something weve never really botherd with. As far as im aware though, the L86a2 is being trialled for the role. If all goes well, the LSW will be replaced by the MINIMI and will be re-designated (and modified I should think) to suit it's new role.

Of corse but i was saying, if the rest of the teams get a marksman then the British should have the L86A2 in this place because they use it still anyway.

Hrm, (havent seen it come up before) do we stick to "realism" as in whats in use now, or is some small allowance made for "realism" as in what will be in use Soon as in a few years time, cause i can imagine something like the XM8 ParaSniper configuration making an ideal DM rifle, since that is its job
if not, i guess using the scoped M16 variant from BFV is an option... or was that phased out?

XM8? Has the project been renewed then?
It was canceled if you did not know.

The XM8 was ready to mass produce practicaly... if that was canceled... im surprised ... very surprised.

PR needs a DM class or a class that has a weapon that will do the job. Snipers are pointless in BF2 as the ranges in BF2 are so limited and well within the effective range of all rifles.
I say just change the sniper class to DM with no gillie suit and a low power optic.

damn it... *sighs* ill never get my XM8 now... nice going USA... *shakes fist*
