Nav Points for SQL

I think a nice addition for Squad Leaders would be a nav point system for his squad, just to give orders how his soldiers attack a target, in best case for every soldier of his squad. (in the command window of SQL)

The simple way would be to clean up the commandrose, some commands i never use as a SQL and some would be nice to have..(the best ex. is Stop. ;) )

Just some toughts, im coming up with this idea because the currently system is to bad for further(or currently) prmm releases(and in the way where the mod goes)

Maybe some of you will get my point of view. ;)

do you mean like a waypoint system?

arr yes sorry i mean waypoints. ;)

But not to much points, i guess 3-5 would be enough.

I think a SQL should not be in front of attackline, he has his soldiers for that.

yes its been brought up before on this forum. I do think it would be a very nice feature espicaly for this mod as the Squad members dont allways know where you are going and when tatics + teamwork are so imporant in this mod you do need stuff like this.

Would love to see a waypoint system in, but knowing the BF2 engine i dout its easy to do :(

Is there no way to use the UI..the currently Command screen for this, or is the ability for commands always set to one ? (hardcoded)

A UI system like D3 would be so nice to have, especially the scripting in D3 for this is so easy, you can create so crazy things with that system.

it would be nice if commanders could draw on there maps similar to the way we do in the atc screen. That way you could put real time info into the game more than the stupid move here attack here waypoints.

the first thing i think of when i think of the waypoints is the little tags that the overlay shows that point towards the CPs.

I know the things that show these tags are manipulatable, the CTF games that accurately show the flag moving on the overlay is proof.

i guess yould just need a way the SQL can "lay" the waypoints down. and id say something like a "dummy supply drop" would be doable, theres just the issue of working out a way for the SQL to place them.

There does not appear to be an easy way to implement waypointing in BF2.

I agree it would be a cool feature, but for just about everything we have to look at effort vs. reward (where sometimes effort is infinite because of how far the gap is from the base engine capabilities).

In this case I think the gap is pretty wide. BF2 is "moddable" but was not designed to be immensely moddable and a lot of things are just not exposed to the mod community.. so you, at times, run into a brick wall in efforts to deviate from the base behaviour.

we could make a chat command to place a waypoint ... i think...
loop checks game chat, checks player location, drops fake marker ... or something...
