What Operating System are you using?

XP or Vista?

same problem here, using XP.
at nearly every 3th mapchange the whole game crashes to desktop.
any suggestions?

This is problem lot of people seem to have. I had it with Vista, main reason why I switched back to XP
Might be vanilla BF2 bug, hope the 1.5 fixes it if none else works.

try the memory fixed bf2 exe. should cure some crashes.

When the game is over, or sometimes when the map is loaded and I'm ready to join the match the game crashes, sending me back to my desktop and closing the game.

AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ 3.2GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT 512MB
2GB RAM

I get the same thing. I don't even get an error message or snything. Just a plain crash.

Vista 32 bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.60ghz
4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9500GT @ 512MB

I get this regulary too, usually after 2nd or 3rd map change

XP64
AMD Phenom 9550
4GB RAM

total fresh install doesn't solve

I get this all the time.

My specs:
Vista 32
Geforce 9800GT @ 1GB (Nvidia drivers ver. 7.15.11.8250)
Phenom X4
4GB Ram

i think this problem is due to a very bad momory-handling from the bf2-engine.
since i tried somethin new in my system-settings, this problem seems to be terminated:

set the pagefile/swapfile from drive C: (or D: if you windows is installed in there)
to "windows-managed" and turn OFF the pagefile for all your other drives.

hope this might help a bit -

Where is this pagefile option exactly?

i used to get this thing but i just cjanged some settings and i was away.

BTW im on vista

Lower textures from high to medium/low , Raise resolution to anything greater then 800 x 600, if both fail, go to the shortcut, edit and change + Fullscreen 1 , to + Fullscreen 0, which when it errors, a error window will appear.
