This is no big deal but in the Marine Corps infantry squad leaders are issued the M4. Could be easy to just switch the weapons out right?

Given that IIRC ingame there is no difference between the M4 and 16, and that the kit already exists, and assuming it's not just a quirk of his company, go for it.

I've always thought that there should be a difference between the M16 and the M4. Assymetric balance FTW.

But yeah if SLs get the M4 IRL go for it. So do grunts get the M16 but SLs get the M4?

I dont think they should be replaced but maybe add it as a 2nd choice for the SL.

What’s the point of giving them M4s?

The fact the USMC uses the M16 in game is pretty much all that differentiates them from the US army infantry wise.

think about this way, lets say your an insurgent sniper and you see a squad of marines, who are you going to try to pick off first? the guy holding the m4!

so yeah if this is how it is in real life im all for it.

Ran it by Eddie Baker and he suggested that it be done for the H-AT class as well. Hence,
KITS: USMC Officer & Heavy AT classes now use M4 variants.
thanks for the input, comotose.

There aren't any differences that the devs could really use in PR, the M4 is lighter and has a shorter length and barrel length...you could decrease its deviation unisghted lol? Iunno

Anyways +1 for realism!

No difference apart from the look of the weapon. Of course an enemy might then see the difference between SL and grunt a bit earlier, but them guns look so similar, it's unlikely.

"The Marine Corps Times reported plans in July 2007 to transition all officers below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and all NCOs from being issued the M9. Instead, they will be issued the M4 Carbine to better meet the needs of modern warfare. The new assignment policy will still assign M9 pistols to Marine Colonels and above and Navy Petty Officer First Class and above only.[4] The US Marines bought the M9A1 in 2006.[5]"
