Mumble and Voip Concept Suggestion

This concept is really quite simple and holds many ramifications for how mumble could be implemented in game. I have heard people discussing the idea but have not seen a thread devoted to discussion solely about it.
Basically it is that Mumble = Talking and In Game VoIP = radio.
Here are the two simple ramifications:
1. When using your radio (in-game) you automatically transmit on mumble. People around you if close enough can hear you talking to your squad mates over the radio. I also think the volume should be somewhat lower to simulate someone talking quieter into their radio.
2. The enemy should either be able to hear you talking or using your radio though mumble . I don't think they should necessarily be able to understand you to simulate language barriers but I do think they should be able to hear the direction the enemy talking is coming from if close enough. To simulate language barriers the mumble could be distorted if that is possible.
Discuss

. Primarily with ramification one since that seems a little bit more plausible as far as implementation. Do you think this is a good idea or do you think mumble and in game voip should be kept separate?

Ok just to make sure what you are saying, are you suggesting that mumble come with PR. If so than that is already on the way. If not im not sure because atm you are just describing mumble it seems like. But reading more now maybe your trying to say when you activate voip you activate mumble at same time?

So basically have your mumble key and VOIP key as the same...
It does work, however the issue is latency in that it creates and echo when using 2 VOIP clients at the same time. Not sure about mumble being distorted though seeing as afterall most players will be speaking in English. Would be realistic but not sure it is possible.
Good idea though, i'd like it if we could get it to work.

I would also like it if my squad mates could hear me using the Radio, it would save me having to go "clear comms (aka stfu)"

I would also like this, but I am unsure if mumble can understand team 1 vs team 2
Right now its more important imo to make it so main channels (i.e. the NON-SL channels) cannot use force center, would make every1's lives easier. And will not transmit if you have not already linked to bf2.

This suggestion assumes that mumble will eventually be integrated with PR. If that turns out not to be true than you can simply forget this was ever suggested.

Exactly.

Yes it is true that if someone uses their radio to communicate and someone in their squad is standing next to them that person will hear them both in mumble and in the in game. But that is realism. If I were to stand next to you with a walkie talkie and talk to you with it you would hear my voice twice, both in the walkie talkie and from my mouth. I think it would be a neat and VERY realistic effect, although latency could cause some issues. I have seen it before when my clan mates have set their mumble and in game keys as the same and the result was a very smooth sounding double voice. Keep in mind that the voice eminating from mumble as a result of using the in game could be kept quiter so that someone standing nearyby and in the samesquad would hear a louder radio voice (the ingame ie the radio) and their quiter actual voice (mumble with the volume reduced). Hope that clarified it somewhat.

(TOTALY HAS BEEN SUGGESTED BEFORE) Mumble is awsome i think the devs are trying to find a way to incorporate it soo hopfully they will get it working

Keep in mind that I am not actually suggesting that mumble be integrated but rather a way Mumble and Voip would interact if mumble were implemented.

The echo drives you a bit mental if you are on the receiving end of it after a while.

Not to sound incredibly arsey, but I started a thread on general implementation of mumble into PR a while ago where both of those were suggested, or something to that effect anyway. Have a read through if you want and feel free to add to it obviously:
