Crewman: Who needs Spec Ops?

Me and a mate both went crewman on Muttrah the other day as MEC, hoping to grab ourselves an APC. However we got bored of waiting around so went off to cause some mayhem. We ended up helping a 6 man squad cap West City and moved on to take out 10 enemy on the way up to North and helped cap that as well, before dying. We also helped to mark out enemy movement from the hills to the west of city.
Stuff that makes the kit so good:
Sub-Machine gun (I know other factions have carbines) - So little recoil it's amazing for CQC (i.e. protecting yourself as you go about your sneaky business)
Smokes - For when you have to get the hell out of dodge
Binocs - Spotting enemy movement.
Unlimited Kit - Not taking anything away from the main squads.
Combine it with a Rifleman specialist and you suddenly have a very effective 2 man squad.
See, the DEV's lied to us about Spec Ops being out of the game. They just changed the name...
Plus when you do take out people with the kit, the epic lolz you get on TS/VOIP is awesome. Try it, see what you think.

MP5 is win, but I feel perhaps its potency might need reassessing.

Well not that I have use one, but isn“t it suposed to be excellent CQB wise? 800-900rpm of low recoil 9mm? Not as powerful but I guess its made up for with rof and lack of recoil?

Tried it on the Inf Grounds at Kashan Training, and the fast rate of fire coupled with ever-so awesome firing sound made it feel like a real silent killer.
Quite funny seeing those guys in shades on Asad with their MP5s running about. I try to steal the kits after killing them.

Asad can be good fun with the bayonets too. I find it to have a real infantry map feel.
The PLA Crewman personal defense weapon is pretty nice too, but seen less with the lack of Sunset City in server rotations.

It's nice in close, really nice. But still needs the knowhow to really pown people, as do any weapon.
I would say let it be as it is. Crewman is really hindered everywhere else than 10m away from the enemy.

The PLA Crewman weapon is nice, but they don't have shades

It would match up the other groups too.

I remember assaulting North bunker on Kashan, i was a US squadleder, and i had put an enemy infested bunker under suppression fire with a saw, and a second squad was down there also giving fire. I wanted to go in from the back, with another rifleman, but it was guarded by a trip wire. So i threw a nade down there, only to go around to the toilets. And when i fell into the ground, i looked into the barrel of an MP5. PEW PEW PEW, dead. So yeah, MP5 gives me nightmares.

well, i was once a participant of the a "Crewman Commandos" squad where everyone except for the SL have a crewman kit, we lost both bunkers so we decided to try out the idea anyway, we hop onto the slow as always MEC chopper, after evading a couple of AA missiles, we charged into the bunker as soon as we landed, took out everyone inside and only suffered one casualty from a guy hiding in the toilet. But yea, people seems to treat MP5 as THE assault weapon. i personally only go for the riflemen kits if i think i need grenades other than that its either crewman or medic for me
Overall, the lighter weapons from the MEC and Chinese Crewman kit is a bit unfair for the US and British faction as they are using standard assault rifles for their crewman kits, while MEC and Chinese are using weapons of mass destruction like the MP5

like previous posts, either equip US and British with a better PDW or replace the PDW of the chinese and mec to a standard assault rifle.

Well... US crewman
are issued M4s, and the Brits are issued the L85 Carbine (Not sure if that's the right designation), but the carbine hasn't been made yet. If/when it does, that'll probably replace the L85 for the crewman.

L22A2 is the SA80 sub-compact carbine's official name (though its really what happens when you give a German an L86A2 and a hacksaw). Its issued to RAC and AA for sure, its also turned up with the RLC, the Royal Marines boarding teams, RVC dog handlers, it may have found its way into the RMP CP teams as H&K don't make spare parts for thier old carbine, the HK53, but I've also heard they're using the C8 and more besides.
According to Janes they're so popular the MOD has asked H&K to chop up even more L86s for them!

H&K made the upgrades on the SA80 to make it the A2.
Any news on the L22A2 coming in game? (that's the SA80 carbine to any one apart from Bob...)

No, This is the SA80 Carbine:
It was a prototype allegedly developed with an eye to selling it to states in East Asia
source
The L22 series are the "subcompact" or "commando" versions of the SA80 series, falling into a similar category as the AKS-74U or the Colt XM177, though it still has a barrel length greater than the M4

I have used it on MEC maps and yes, get in fairly close and no-one stands a chance, just make sure to reload!

Which do the British use, if you don't mind my asking?
And are they coming to PR? I've heard conflicting rumors.
