What is the shortcut for extruding? i have always been using Shift but now it just means to clone an object, Maybe i changed something in the customization menu? Any ideas how to put it back to shift?

Make it whatever button you wish mate.

Custormise>Custormise User Interface
Then scroll down to Extrude (poly) click it then click "hotkey" then push the button you want to use as extrude (note it will overwrite and hotkey setup you have set for that key)

And your done
