Amazonian Rain Forest

Hello there PR modders,

I'd like to suggest some maps made of the amazonian rain forest here in Brazil. I believe you all know about the activity of drug cartels around this rain forest and other militia like the FARC.
I also strongly believe that the brazilian forces, if this suggestion is taken into considertion, should have one of our airplanes, the Super Tucano ( Defense Tech: ...Is this the New Counter-Insurgency Aircraft? ).

So pretty much what I'm asking is for a south american battle front, and there are many places to be explored. But I believe the Amazonian rain forest would be the most iconic maps there, at least for us brazilians.

Thank you very much. And congratulations on your mod, never seen anything like it.

I don't see why there couldn't be such conflicts, they are guerilla vs. conventional conflicts just like with the Islamic insurgents we have now.

This is a resuggestion, but its an interesting one. afaik new games such as Delta Force Angel Falls will be focusing on these conflicts

Sorry, didn't understand, how come it is in the wrong section? and IIRC it won't happen? What does that mean?

Still, this war isn't going to happen, it is happening on a daily basis.
Super Tucanos fly over Amazon destroying airfields and everything. I don't see a reason this is a bad idea, it was just a thought anyway.

And thank you everyone for the replies... I posted here, because I sure hell don't know how to do this, and well, I think it would be great to see this kind of map on PR.

Its not the same, the "Guerrilla" in Colombia its not an "REAL" ideological movement. They are just a criminal terrorist mercenaries and Drugs Lords. I think its not good Idea . The god of the ELN ( Ejercito Liberacion Nacional or National Liberation Army ) and the FARC ( Fuerzas Armadas revolucionarias de Colombia or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia ) its the money and the Drugs.

By the way, the Combian Army, The National Police of Colombia with the suport of the NAS ( Narcotics Affair Section ) and the DEA agents , fight against this narcoterrorists.

The goverment of Hugo Chavez ( venezuela President ) supply in the past money and weappons to this terrorist.

1. Is it worth it?

The mod team has limited means and can only set out for so many ends. While adding the ultra-elite counter terrorist Vatican Swiss Guards as a new faction would be cool, ultimately it would require an awful lot of time and add little to our mod.
A word in these forums is that maps and factions ideas have to be started by community members. The devs are already working on different things and a drug war theathre is not in the "goals of PR". The goal is to make a realistic warfare and incoporate the British Army.

This is off-topic: If an organization utilizes guerilla tactics to fight a conventional army for money, power, God, god, freedom, ideology... or whatever, then what difference does it make to PR, and what difference does it make in general? The fact remains that it is a guerilla war being waged against a conventional army. I would argue that the Taliban is much, much more similar to the FARC than your post would have us believe.

Back on topic: New theaters are great. Both Africa and South America would be great additions to PR. Adding these require lots of work and a dedicated faction development team to step up and do this work.

I like the idea of a drug war somewhere in south america. Caches could be crates with cocaine that the regular army is trying to destroy and the guerilla is trying to defend. Scout aircraft should be avaliable and probably transport choppers. Perhaps some of the US assets could be used because if im not mistaken they have done raids inside Colombia togheter with the colombian military. Who would not want to fight in a tropical rainforest broken up with cocafields and run down coca manufacturing plants?

And I dont see why a drug war map with regulars and guerilla would be different to insurgents, taliban, chechens etc. War is always a struggle for power were both sides try to dominate the other and it plays out the same everytime, no matter what factions are fighting.

I think that a conflict with guerrilas and drug lords are just as real as Taliban ,insurgents combat.Real people combating each other(Farc vs Colobian/Brazilian army)diferent equipaments than European and American ones, with real victims, for me it's MUCH more real than a modern conflict that will be putted on 0.9 version that is Russian vs German,a conflict between these 2 nations on nowadays is far far away to happen. Also for me it looks more more exciting military speaking a real situation than putting
Norway army(WTF?)....What real conflict Norway Army passed lately, most of it must be sending 1000 troops to Iraq and done.

It may being done a Brazilian/South American community mod,but it may not be so mature so that they can expose to everyone,it's a possibility

I am doing some preliminary work to get us into the "jungle" so to speak.

More of a generic jungle but the idea is to have some deep overgrown jungle fighting..

I should have some progress to show off in the next month or so..

stay tuned..

More realistic would be to make a map Jungle / city located in Brazil, where the Army of Brazil ( or Police ) fight against drug cartels in the Favelas . That would be realistic and possible I beleave , But think a Brazilian faction against Farcs faction is not realistic because it does not happen in real life

The PR community in Brazil its big, they can support images , videos and info to make this.

Info for the fight against the fight against the Favela Drugs Lords here ( see the video ) :

I don't know the stats, but as as someone else here kinda hinted at the Taliban probably make a £$%^ load of money out of opium poppies, I bet that a fair few reap the benefits of such income on a non-idealogical level too. Obviously both different situations, again I don't know that stats but it seems blatent enough there's alot more drug money in South America then the middle east so there's obviously gonna be a load of scumbag mercenaries, but I still bet there's plenty of guerilla organisations with some conviction at least. Regardless of that they are still armed groups in conflict with conventional armies so should be fitting for PR.

Perhaps we could have a Zapitista mini-mod where there's a brief 20 minute conflict followed by several hours of coffee growing simulation. At least they're committed to their ideology eh? :p
