Hi, im just wondering if is it possible to do a sort of item like SPIKE STRIPS used by the police and in the military forces??....
It could be in some kits like "mines" are.

is hard to do it for PR??

this would be great as a way to stop bomb cars hitting the main at the start of a round

would be really good actually, but I'm not sure if it can be made so it would only disable a vehicle rather than destroy it.....

lol, truck in PR simply can overcome anti-tank obstacles, and you offers a spike stripe. :) )

Think of it like this. The Trucks have big chunky tires. But a bomb car or civvy car have normal road tires. A Spike strip (or stinger as they are called in the UK) would easily stop a road car. But you are right about how it world work in PR. Maybe it could be coded to drop the a cars health down to to say 25% so as to make it undriverable

Yes the objective is to disable vehicles not destroy them jej...is just to stop them..

Even if it could be codable to take the vehicle health down to 25%, it'd be far too unrealistic. You've had your tires blown, then it will take 4x less the usual amount of bullets to fully destroy it.

Not going to work in the BF2 engine (in a realistic manner)

(an assumption made with my limited knowledge of coding)

Doesn't most military vehicles use hard tires/run of flat? AFAIK x-net and spikes are only used at the borders and guard posts etc. on civi cars who refuse to stop.

btw, that sig is absolutely awesome, but iirc you're not allowed to use the PR dogtags unless you are a member of the team :) (copywrite)

So what if you're already on 50% and you drive over a spike strip?

In real life, if your car was pretty damaged driving over one wouldn't cause it to explode.

Spike strips are used to stop the vehicle without killing the driver to avoid making mistakes and killing innocent people... right? What's the point of using it in PR where there is only opfor on the map?
If enemy vehicle will drive on one of those then players will continue to move on foot.... if you use HAT, LAT, MINES, C4, HMGs they wont move anywhere

Destroying enemy vehicles is more effective then stopping them IMO :D

hardcoded?

Spike Stripes could be used in many ways.... i suggest them not for destroy cars or trucks, just to stop them or to make them undriverable so armies gain a easy way to stop this vehicles by not using mines only.
But maybe be very hardcoded... just think about it.
Bye! ;)

Maybe it doesn't have to do damage at all.
Maybe we can have it look like a spike strip, and when a vehicle drives over the area designated as a spike strip it changes to an enemy vehicle for both teams and ejects the passengers.
Add a blown tire sound and slow it down a bit before ejecting the passengers.

Could that work?

Ahh its interesting idea, but nothing a well defended base cant stop. :-P

hardcoded?
No. Foxholes and Razorwire aren't ;)

This would have to do a lot of damage to the vehicle in order to damage the car enough to bring it to a stop. It would not even work with runflat tires which most armies are using now.

I can not see this working out well in game.

There would have to be a way to control the amount of damage it does to certain vehicles. To do that, you'd have to screw around with the materials of every vehicle. Then, you'd have to test every possible weapon to ensure that M9s aren't penetrating HMMWV armor.

It's a lot of trouble, just for a chance that the vehicle will actually be disabled.

In a word...

No.
