Tank controls?

very simple change, make the arrow keys able to move the turret as gunner!!!

Seriously, the CH2 has a very quick turret, but the turret in game doesn't move that quickly because you have to move ur mouse back constantly...

Would eb alot easier just to use the arrow keys :)

Not really.

I still would never be able to do a full rotation in 6 seconds...

It would be cool, if a joystick could be set up by default to operate AFV turrets

Try it, a full rotation.

Arrow keys are easier anyway.

if you cant turn the turret 360degs in 6secs ingame then there is something really wrong with your mouse :p

in r/l the CR2 dose not use "arrow keys" / Buttons to aim the turret, they in fact have a controller that looks VERY similar to a Play Station controller hehe.

In fact here is a pic of it we took at Bovington from the Gunner simulator room.

now that little pad on the right side is what you used to aim with much like a game controller.

If you want to have a realistic gunner experience I suggest you buy a controller similar to that and setup your aiming to be used on the controller, very easy thing to do in your control options... If you really want you can setup your arrow keys to also look around, but I would strongly advise against this as doing it will mean you will not be able to point at anything. Why? Because with keys, when you press them its turning at 100% speed, when you let go its 0%, there is no in-between margin so the only way to get a proper line up is to keep on tapping the key until its in the right spot. This will mean that its going to take you at least 5x longer to line up a good shot than it would with a mouse or a controller.

We will not be forcing any players to use the arrow keys to aim, if you want to do it then that's your own choice.

Still I'd much rather have a enforced slower turret than we have now and then use the combined arms FCS. I think that would reflect RL more and also be skillful.

I think he is talking about the challenger tank which the turret has an incredibly slow turning speed in game for some reason. All the other tank turrets turn pretty quickly but for some reason the challenger turret is in slowmo.

Haha like some back in the day console controller. But on a serious note as a wannabe real life tanker, was that from a CH2?

Screw that, I have a POS Microsoft Mouse, and to tank, I have to clean off the top of my desk, then tanking is very easy.

You see, having something clean in your home actually is useful.

Hmmm, Where's the trigger?

Also, does that switch in the middle mean that you can't fire the main cannon and the mg at the same time?

Guess so....but yeah I could envision not being able to hit stuff like bomb cars with tanks and even APCs. Its hard enough to turn your turret fast enough with the challenger

@ Rhino

Modding the controls to use the arrow keys would bring the Leetness down dramatically. in fact, with this plus the CAS tracking system it could change tank battles for the better. why not give it a try?

This is one of the things armour needs in PR imo. target tracking, thermoptic vision mode, vertical gun stabiliser and keys instead of mouse. i say give it a try. you wanna changeover from vanilla thats more than just the exterior appearance and having more than one crewmember? heres the chance. plus it give infantry a viable chance to run away when the tanks lining up a shot. sure its a bit of work, but anything thats worthwhile is.

Indeed, tanks should be juggernaughts of power, but not as wieldly as they are now.
