Extraction mode thoughts and tips

Hi PR
This is my first post here on the forums. I have to say this mod is the way
bf2 supposed to be. great weapon and vehicle balances, no more arty rape thx god.
The extraction mode is a great add on form the classic conquest mode. but needs to be polish several things out.
First, the rounds gets too fast if the SUV gets from A to B quickly, what about adding 3 Suvs to get to ponit B. or maybe make the SUV much slower like 40 km\h. and more armor. there is no chance from walking squads to support the suv and play an intense battle throught the streets
Second, the squads an other team mates on the field don't know were the SUV heads to on its way to point B all the time, and it can become very chaotic. I think the SUV must be shown in the mini map in a diferent color to distinguish from team mates to locate it and guive them better support, like in CTF mode.
Also It would be nice if the SUV had a vip figure in the back seat, and make passenger seat able to use guns.
And last, when Mec destroy the SUV, theres no chance to see the suv destroyed. You go back to map screenshot. that's all
great mode!!

yes we are looking at ways to improve it. We really couldnt play test it all that mach with the testers as there where so manny bugs to fix. This is more of a test for .3 to see where and how we can improve it.
Also we will probaly get VIP guy in the future with any luck

I think relocating the MEC spawn points would be a good idea. At the moment on Karkand, everyone spawns on that location by the bridge, takes out the bridge and drops tons of AT mines in the way passing. If the MEC are quick, they can reduce the battle to one choke point, and it gets tedious. If the USMC are quick, they've pretty much won as nobody really spawns at the back, but even if they do it's just too hard to play. I think the concept of Extraction is a brilliant one, and various adjustments to the game mode could make it even better.

Haveing a person in the back is a bad idea, like if someone made a map and the SUV was transporting a valued object in the back?
Also, if any idiot political fanny is sitting in the back, i would get in and play 'how meany fingers' with him.... Alternatively the enemy could snipe him but he's going to die all the same

I think Xtract is a pretty good mode, except for on Karkand *shudders*

Admitedly, I've only played it on Karkand but it's still pretty fun, but like I said I've had some bad times. Earlier, I singlehandedly took out the SUV. I was moving towards the trains to take up a recon role as commander, then suddenly I see three humvees and te SUV coming through the water. The humvee drivers abandoned their vehicles to engage nearby troops (they were all snipers for some reason) so I sprung into action, ran upto the SUV which was blocked by the hummers and threw three SLAMs on the bonnet. I was killed by a friendly hand grenade, but nonetheless I managed to take out the SUV.

Is there any way to make the glass on the SUV penetrable by Sniper bullets? The way it stands now, the MEC sniper is pretty much useless in extraction except in taking out the occasional guy who decides to hop out of the vehicle. (the guy who is usually mowed down by machine gun fire)

You don't need to kill the SUV to assist your team. If the protecting convoy are taken down, they're left with a car that someone else can destroy. Personally, I enjoy popping the guys hanging from the Little Bird with my dragunov. ^_^

Thanks for the suggestions. We're looking for ways to improve xtraction. One thing we will not do is to allow the passenger of the suv to shoot to the outside. Armored vehicles like that are always made to have their windows up and such.

Karkand isnt that hard to win, you send out all the escort cars as targets and the VIP runs up behind them as MEC are reloading there rockets.
I have to say though xtraction would be a LOT better if it had maps specificly for that type of game mode.

That's also something that's being worked on. Maps do take longer to develop completely.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Extraction works better when there are more choke points. At any one time in a BF2 map there's either 2 choke points or 200 choke points. Exctraction needs a balance, with multiple routes the SUV can take without it being too open and difficult for the MEC to cover land. I've not seen those pickup trucks you mentioned out and about, but a map where it's basically a bunch of humvees and the SUV against a bunch of pickup trucks would be awesome.

In this episode three cars are used to protect their VIPs, all the cars look the same and carry about four people so this would be nice.
Its a good watch and a nice look into whats happening over their.
Would it be posible to make some Technicals (pick up trucks with machine guns like in SF) or civi cars to help suiside bomb or block off the VIP and escortes?
Karkand extraction- Please put the SUV at the north west(i can't recall what the vanilla flag name is) point instead of the gate house. PLEASE! That could open up the posibility for two Evac zones? One going south and one going far into the east by the water front?
Eden, Ever see three or four guys waiting at a choke point in different locations to blow up the VIP? I actualy joined a squad that had mine layers for the decoys and c4 ahead of them which blew up the VIP after the decoys ran down the anti armor mines. Its a real !XXXX! against people who use the power of the ENG. kit well.

edit: Also some tutorial videos to help players learn about the objectives in each mode might help for a final since a lot of players seem to be clueless about what to do for many rounds.

In terms of as it stands, my opinion of the best way to complete xtract on mastuhr for example, is to get a tank - a Hummve - SUV - a hummv - a hummv. This keeps the SUV safe from hits from the rear and the front.
When turning corners though, the fron Hummer should 'shield' the SUV from RPG attack by stopping. Another hummer hsould then take point and the convoy continue.
