There should be less .50 cal technicals in Insurgency

I'm not sure but in real life, isn't it rare for a helicopter to be shot down by a .50 cal technical? In PR, it happens all the time. Most times I've read about a helicopter being shot down it was due to anti-air or RPG's.
I think the number of 50 cal technicals on Basrah and Ramiel should be decreased by half.
I also think we should return the non-armed truck that can drop ammo as insurgents do use cars to transport weapons.

What would then be the reason to protect caches. This idea only encourages non-cache defending practices.

I'm not sure about real life, isn't it rare for 200 coalition soldiers to be killed by insurgents in the space of an hour?
A decent pilot, who knows what he is doing alongside a well organised team in PR should never get shot down by insurgents. It's all down to the players.
Remember, this isn't a military simulator, it's a game.

Helicopters arent built of that strong materials, the reason you never see helicopters really getting shot by is they try not to land that close to enemy positions unless necessary.

Fair enough scratch that idea.

A realistic game. Why don't we have 4 sniper rifles instead of 2? Same application. PR does try to simulate a realistic battlefield.

PR is a game, not real life. Go outside for that.
If anything there is not enough technicals in Insurgency. The crappy things blow up on small bumps, can be destroyed by one guy firing a mag into it and the .50 cal gunner has less protection than a guy standing in the middle of the road.
Seriously, I've seen players that switched to the RPK74 when defending with them just to avoid getting shot off 0.2 seconds into manning the thing.

So true.

Because 1/8th of the battlefield is not comprised of snipers.

Fixed
Otherwise agree with you on that Outlawz.

Well you also don“t tend to pop out of fog irl. Normally you can stay out of range of such weapons.

Aren't the undersides of blackhawks made to withstand RPGs? I think I remember it was you saying something like that Alex, I could be mistaken though.

Not me im sure? But rpg wise I guess it depends on what you hit. I mean helis in general have low amounts of armour, but this also means rounds just go right though and do nothing unless they hit a specific important part.

Ah yes, it is true that not many helicopters in real life are shot down by Technical's.
It is also true that very few of the Pilots in PR are well trained
A good pilot would be able to avoid being shot down, I think they should stay the same.

Just replace snipers with technicals and it still stands true. You proved my point.

That's not a valid argument at all. You can say that for any realistic change made in PR from vBF2. Hell you can justify vBF2 being the way it is with such an argument.
edit:sorry double post

I think his point about realism is that you're constrained to the size of the map and the viewdistance, in real life you'd be able to see the technicals before they saw you and you would also have the ability to land farther away from combat and have the trooops go in on foot. You don't land on top of the cache building.

It's the best argument of all. If we wanted reality,
we wouldn't be sitting behind a computer screen. I don't know about you, but I don't play PR because I'm too short / fat / gay / crippled to join the army for real - I play PR because unlike reality, it's a load of fun. Any correlation between realism and fun is purely coincidental, so I think gameplay decisions should be based on the latter, not the former. Realism is merely a bonus.
Don't let the mod's name confuse you, it's just a name.

I'm gonna throw aside the "what is and what is not realistic in PR" as it doesn't matter in this question. If RL pilots were to fly around like the pilots do in PR I bet the numbers of downed heli's would go up.
I'm suprized the amount of time a pilot will fly right into the middle of combat. And you hear it from passengers all the time "Do get us really close"....BOOM, "what the hell you noob pilot. When I hear "Why the hell did you drop us here its so far away" that to me is a successful pilot. If the enemy can watch you land your doing it wrong.

Well, if you look at the Vehicle loadouts on the insurgent maps, you can see a large difference...
Like Basrah,
Challenger II, Scimitar, IFV
Now, compare to a Technical, I wouldn't mind having a lot of Technicals on a map
