Gas Masks? Moved

Hello PR community!

I originally posted this in general discussion area. However, i decided to step up my idea.

Since gas masks are my favorite collection hobby, i figured, lets introduce them to Project Reality. Gas masks are issued to soldiers today. In some situations gas masks are required to stay alive. I think PR should have some tear gas action in urban assaults. I know most of you will be thinking, "Isn't tear gas meant for riots???" Yes and no. Tear gas has been used in combat. However, this topic is arguable because it is illegal for a country to use riot control tactics as method of warfare is unlawful... Although, what if the rebels began using it...

Also, only combat engineers should deploy tear gas (or any other NBC agent)

I ran into one problem though... All nine slots are used in each kit. So i will need the help of you guys what space we can free up in order to use these masks.

I currently have a list of possible masks!

I found my modern issue M - 40 gas mask, the other was phased out, my bad.

All ideas welcome!

I dont think that Tear gas would result in an important change in gameplay.
And since only egineers would carry gasnades, it wouldnt see much action anyway.
Gasmasks could be used if there would be more weapon slots available, but currently there are more important things in the inventory.

Btw:

Looks like a russian gasmask.

like pribby sead, to many spaces are used up... if the pr devs could figure out how two have more wepon slots, then it would add much diversity, but other then that...

That is a lot of models that need to be modeled, textured, and exported...

Althought it would be interesting for it to be used as a skin for a combat engineer model, I don't think it's important enough to be used for PR.

What would you take out of the combat engineer? :S Everything is used..

Definately not the gas mask I was issued.

Why only combat engineers? In an environment in which chemical weapons are expected to be used or encountered, every (Conventional) soldier would be carrying one.

Would use of the gas mask effect the use of other shaders by PR? (I'm assuming the gasmask overlay is a shader.)

Could we replace the night vision function with the gas mask?

If this were desired by the DEV team / Community -- Would modeling them be an issue? ;) ;) ;)

It's my understanding that most military smoke grenades generate Zinc Chloride gas which concentrated exposure can result in respiratory injury and possibly death. Could we have a reduced teargas effect that builds as a player loiters in a cloud of conventional smoke?

Have all my questions been asked & answered? If so, I probably deserve an infraction. ;)

i think he sead engineers becuase i think we all thought of a gas mask as a wepon.. or atleast i did.

mabey use just a simple change to the night vision so its its own shader, like it is normal colers, but the green affect could be triggerd to be like a suppresive thing from the guns, becuase i thought the same thing as you about shaders read.

hey, thats a good idea read, the night vision was allways broght up by hitting like z or n or something right?

im sure someone would model these

um.. idk....but the second part, i dont think that is possible with the bf2 engian. i think the bleed out it similer to how aircraft die whene low on health on vbf2. i dont think there is any way to build anything up, but i may be wrong

I like the nightvision idea, as long as there arent nightmaps in PR.
But can you add something like the "Gas filtering" to them?

I mean it could be intersting if say the commander had more weapons avaliable to him like mustard gas or things like could possiably implement it into russian maps and taliban maps

Battlefield 2 Special forces had gas and gasmasks, I believe even gasmasks and night vision on some maps. (So I'm guessing it wouldn't be a problem shader wise). If the dev's could take stuff from that it would be really easy.. maybe they can take a look at how they did it there?

It shouldn't be used for chemical warfare as that scene isn't that realistic these days.. Tear gas is the answer and would be great to get rid of a camping enemy in a building

i dont think taliban and iraqi insurgent would use them too pricey and no need for the taliban as fire fights are usally long range between the us and brits.
