Motion Blur while scrolling

Hi guys,
today, I noticed that a game looks much more realistic and atmospheric if it has the motion blur effect when you move your head fast.
I want to ask if its hardcoded or not, because I think its a simple Camera Blur effect that has to come up when you move your mouse very quickly.
I know that some blur things have already been suggested but NOT when moving your head
This effect would make PR more realistic and the atmosphere would just make boooom.

Many graphics cards cannot support Motion Blur (or have an extreamly hard time doing so, mine did).
Most people would just turn it off anyway, if there was an option to, since it blurs your vision while moving your mouse (which, im assuming is what you were talking about). CQB would be a lot easier for the person without motion blur turned on, since they can see clearer.

Again, the people who are giving these suggestion don't care what **** card you run.... learn that to proceed forward, sometimes you gotta leave some people behind.. or else you won't survive eg. Leave your infected friend behind when surrounded by zombies.
I'll put myself in debt before I couldn't run even the BF2 engine.

Course i'm a hateful person to begin with....
we need to have a "Help people get better stuff for their systems" fund/trade going here.
I'm sure some people on this forum just upgraded from a GeForce 8000 series card to a 9000 series card... they could give up that extra card...

Atmospheric maybe but I don't think it makes it more realistic. Your eye naturally blur things if they're moving fast. As far as I know motion blur is used in games partly because it makes the framerate seem smoother and more consistent and also for the style. In fps' it would just make it difficult to concentrate on what you're doing.

ya, ill take preatty much anything cept a new vidio card=P my vidio card is a good one from 05, the rest is not bad from 2001....also....
isent there a geforce 10 series thats better then others out right now, or am i thinking of comething else.
on topic: i see what you mean with motion blure, but it would have to be very very little, i mean in rl you can turn arround and you rally dont blur anything out unless your moving x fast...

Not blur per say, but your eyes don't focus and much in between if you turn your head real fast.

okay okay okay, some things have to be clear:
Motion Blur is not HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE....
I got a crappy x800xl with shaders 2.0 and I have Motion Blur activated in every game which supports it (DoD:S p.e.) and it doesnt affect my frame rate
at all.
and OF COURSE its more realistic or can you concentrate on one thing when your moving your head from one side to the other???
Its not a smiple blur effect its a camera blur/speed blur effect, not the objects get blurred but the whole screen. and now PLEASE all turn your heads and tell me if your vision is clear while your doing that. .... .... ...
edit: antionious, ninjaed

In PR your field of view is something like 45 degrees whereas in real-life we can almost see 180. Therefore you have to move the view around much more when what you would normally do is just move your eyes around. The blurring is also already done by our brains when you move the view around so it doesn't need to be done by the game.
I associate motion blur with bloom when it comes to games and movies, there are both over-used and abused effects that people think makes it more real - and to be fair it can help the immersiveness of games like race driver:Grid where movement is quite predictable and smooth. However in a fps where your view is darting all over the place you need to be able to react to the tiny glints as you move the view around, it just doesn't suit it.

And?
When you move your eyes you dont see anything clearly, do YOU?
I dont mean that omfg-crysis-1337-like motion blur and nothing with bloom, only a slightly bit of camera blur when you move you mouse (really) fast. I never notice that i move the mouse that fast i suggest the motion blur should appear.
Play a round day of defeat source, i think there the motion blur effects very well done. At first I didnt even noticed it there.
In addition it would look nicer when having a moving screen, so you dont notice those ugly half-screens.

It's not the fact that video cards don't support motion blur, in fact anything that is able to run PR can handle blur, it's the game that does not support it.
It's simply hardcoded to the max.

Well not exactly it is possible to get it working, same as the depth of field like cod4 has. But it requires new files that hook up with the game. And punkbusters doesn't like that.

I'm not sure you understand my point. When you swing the view around in PR your eyes/brain/etc is already blurring it, in RL things don't blur when you turn it's just an effect achieved by your eye. My point being that we are still able to acknowledge and react to objects we see even for a split second. There's not much point simulating what your eyes does when your eyes already doing it for you, the only purpose I see for this is to make framerate seem more consistent.
Besides I think I'm a bit offtopic as I think this is probably hardcoded
