.:iGi:. Mumble Night Friday 5th

Image*
Note, it has come to my attention that some people are not aware that mumble is now at version .4 for the PR CLIENT. The PR client is different from the mumble client avaliable from sourceforge. I recommend you download the PR CLIENT from this link for a better gaming experience.

We in .:iGi:. want to ensure everyone knows that we will be running a mumble night this Friday!! (this was announced via the community events calendar)

We won't be formally organising teams

BF2 voip will be left enabled as mumble has yet to incorporate a whisper feature

The server will be passworded

password = mumbleftw

(the password is just so non-mumblers can't join)

Only join if you are using mumble, if you are found not to be using mumble you will be removed from the game server.

Ip Addresses

.:iGi:. PR server

Mumble Server

(we're using the offical PR mumble server) NOTE - This IP was changed recently, this is the correct IP.)
Join the iGi mumble channel when in server
This won't turn in to a 'set up your mumble workshop' so I suggest you download the latest PR mumble build, which should be problem free for the vast majority.
205.234.153.178:64738

(Remember to have 'force center' aka Squad Leader Radio Net, mapped to a button for you to talk to all the SLs in that sub channel - but remember to use radio discipline and preferably protocol <- i.e. request the attention of another SL, wait for acknowledgement, send message) We will be on hand to remove/mute players who cannot refrain from force center (aka all chat) in the main iGi channel. Force center is to be used in SL channel only.

Remember guys, mumble is alot of fun for messing around. But if the enemy is in a more focused mood then you're gonna get pwned.

If you need to set it up click here

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or another iGi member.

Here is the maplist (not necessarily in this order, maplist will play unless a mapchange is necessary) We believe these maps are conducive to the use of mumble and should be alot of fun

We are considering bringing Kashan/Qinling CnC in, comments regarding this are appreciated

Skirmish maps will be used as necessary when the server is half full.

Discuss here, tell your friends, tell your enemies even. Lets get the server full all night long for some mumble action!

And Please! we want more feedback! We appreciate 'I enjoyed myself' definately, but we want Stories, problems, suggestions!

*Image very kindly made by [DM]Scot, screenshots were from previous mumble night

I would say no Kashan and Qinling, not the best map to show off mumble abilities and pros
fools_road gpm_cq 64
bi_ming gpm_cq 16
last time players started to leave on this map(fools was a fail in comparison to other rounds)

^ We suspect that may have been because the team with iGi on it tended to win. We shall be spitting ourselves up because of our awe inspiring power and manliness.

Since they are at the end of the maplist, don't worry about them :) If the teams are balanced it will be hours and hours before we get to them.

Sweet, totally there.

EDIT: Mestia 16 with a full server? Not sure I really agree with that, might get a little spammy.

In my oppnion you should remove bf2 voip with or without a whisper feature in mumble since last time, mumble were almost not used at all except for some rare squad-to-squad comunications which imo takes away the purpose with mumble almost completely.
I remember once when playing on the stress test server and voip was down so people had to rely completely on mumble. It was pure epicness!

thank you to [DM]Scot for using his photoshop skillz on our behalf (my photoshop won't work on my computer cuz I've run out of licenses, would have to drive to my mum's to use it...)

There is a special reward for spotting the amusing part of the image.

And no Jedi, mestia 16 is actually mestia 64, i.e. mestia 16 cq = the big one, mestia 16 sk = the small one.
