if you press local chat (i.e. normal chat) people within 70m hear you, no matter what team they are on.
if you press Squad Leader Radio Net (i.e. All Chat) everyone in the sub channel will hear you.
so if you are in the iGi server channel and are in Squad leader team 1 sub channel, only the squad leaders of Team 1 will hear you (you need to move manually to that channel)
Don't use the radio unless ur in a squad leader channel.
If you are loading up the map, i.e. you haven't spawned yet, everyone will hear you when you talk and you wil hear everyone.
If you die you will hear/talk on mumble in as if you are still standing on the point at which you died.

Good description. One question from me too; If the squadleaders are in their own channel how do they communicate with the rest of their squad, does the local chat still work?

Yes. They are in their own squad so whenever they use 'force center', they can talk to all the other SL's from their team. If they use the normal speech button, they just talk like everyone else.

Mumble is awesome! Although im looking forward to the next 0.5 fix...
So people who arent ingame, cant switch to "the main channel" but must wait in the waiting room.
Etc.

Is this really going to be in 0.5?

the features of .5 are unconfirmed, I suspect however that autochannel changing will NOT be in .5

Nope, there will be no facility like that yet.
