map sections

While I try to think of an appropriate title for this post, here is my idea. This has been rolling around in my head for quite sometime and after looking through the forums couldn't find anyone having already mentioning it.

I wonder what people think of maps that are sections of a much, much bigger map area. Where one map is played and the "battle" moves on to another area. When you look at the edges of some maps I wonder what it would look like if it was part of another map. Scrim maps look like it on a very small scale. Anywho thats the jist of it.. still cant think of a good map title..

iirc, Mestia and Foolz Road are connected in the way you mention.

Think he means in a battlefield bad company way, like where you complete an objective then a new part of the map is unlocked and you move to that bit.

Edit: woops forgot to add this. Personally i think this is kind of already in the game in insurgency modes as they tend to have caches appear in near by areas then move off to a random area and start spawning there. Though alot of the time they are just everywhere most my insurgency games they are near each other.

no he's talking about where the two maps are connected like assault on mestia and fools road are.

Fools road up by the chechen base, is a road that gets cut off (where the tanks spawn)

On mestia im pretty sure that road is down by the russian base or something like that

How would linking the maps work? Players who move to the edge of the map load up the next map and start on the opposite edge? :O

Ah I think I get it, at the start of the round the whole map is loaded, but most of it locked (by either a wall or a out of bounds red stripe area). The when a particular cache is destroyed/objective reached, part of the red stripe area goes away, freeing up the area to let you to the next objective/cache.

It's a good idea, but in this way it would be unrealistic, it might be better to have assets which help armys do this, such as really big walls, or the walls similar to those that already exist with a wire fence on top, so officers of each team can decide which areas would be a good idea to block off. These walls could be penetratable, but only by some well heavy stuff like AP tankshells, bombs and hellfires.

Um sorry if I took your idea and made my own idea out of it.

it would be cool, but here we are using BF2 engine (Refractor 2), not FC2 engine (Dunia)

I think maybe he is saying g you play a map like normal. Then depending on the outcome the next map in the map list would be am map that represents the part of the map that was just out of bounds. So one round ends, next map loads and your in a different part of a huge area.

The only problem is, you'll be on the other team.

No not always JDMT, the server chooses that setting if im right. But this would bring problems of people being on same team over and over.

Yeah the more I think about it, it wouldn't work. It would be better actually if we get more maps. I'm getting pretty tired of the same maps I guess. Didn't know that Mestia and Fools Road were linked.

Cheers,

mestia and fools arent linked.. well not directly.. but they do share a connecting road that runs through a map called dragonfly which hasnt been released yet.

and Siege at ochamachira is meant to be the first of the militia series..(coming in .9)

so... (assuming Im able to wrangle the brits back onto these maps as originally intended)

siege at ochamachira (brits land in the theater and are attacked by militia)

Foolsroad (Brits advance into militia territory)

Dragonfly (Brits break through to primary militia operations base/city)

Assault on Mestia (Brits finish off the militia with a decisive strike at their main base)

Are Fallujah West and Karbala not linked? Because on Fallujah theres a sign that says Karbala.
