So, a friend of mine (from vbf2) is coming to PR. ill send him the manual and some of the instructions, but what's the best way to teach them how to play it? i do plan no teaching him some infantry movements and stuff on a training server, or ill start playing him in a real server, ill be a SL and teach him stuff on the way while doing what i have to do. what do u guys think?

Tell him to read the manual, then i'd just go straight into some basic infantry action on a 'proper' server.

We are hoping to get a regular PR training group up and running to run some training sessions soon. A bit like Fuzzheads SL training, we are hoping to get you guys some sessions that will hopefully help the newer members of the community a chance to learn some of the more interesting tactics and skills that range from helicopters, to infantry.

This game is not rocket science.
Maybe teach em how to minimise the deviation, how to use the medic kit and how not to use vehicles but thats about all there is to know.

There is a portuguese version of the manual if he prefers:

http://realitymodfiles.com/spearhead/ma ... _PT_BR.pdf

And tell him to, each time he get in the server, advise in the HUD that is is a newbie, most of the players like to invite new players to the squad and teach him the basics.

Spend 15mins on a training server to tell him about the kit request system and deviation.

Then you can jump on a normal server as long as he doesn't try using anything more complicated.

i.e. stick to rifleman and other simple kits.

He can check out the tutorial vids people have been kind enough to make on youtube

Get him to read to manual than bring him to one of the training servers. Get him use to how to request kits, etc. Tell him about squad leaders expectations when he joins a squad. Than show him the ropes of driving and gunning armored vehicles. Than if you want teach him how to fly.

As somebody else said in here, PR isn't rocket science and if you teach him the basics than all the rest goes down smooth.

one thing i had troublelearning that negatively affected the team when i was a noob was the spawn time of kits and asstes/vehicles.
make sure he knows that if a tank dies it take like 20 minutes (i think) to respawn. this is something important that noobs need to know and is not in the field manual enough: how long the respwn times are for vehicles. losing a HMMV or APC in vBF2 is no big deal because they respawn all the time and because cover fire/ fire supprt does not really exist, but in PR losing HMMVs or APC and such really cost the team and can ruin gameplay (imagine at main base with objective 1000 meters away and no transport..
i would tell your friend to plz NOT take ANY vehicles until after several hours of live pub gameplay and a few hours on training.

Entendi sim o que vc disse

I got what you said :P

So, here is the croassant, I mean, the french version of the manual http://realitymodfiles.com/spearhead/ma ... ual_FR.pdf

Tell him to start playing as a normal infantry man and before geting in a vehicle, it is essential to train before in a trainning server.

The hardest thing for me to learn was deviation and aiming the rifle. I still don't really get the hang of it, but that's pretty important. I would read the manual, then just give some basic infantry basics, since he's probably not going straight into SL or Commander. If you get mroe time, maybe teach him a bit about the LAT kit (well, ATs as a whole).
