What happened to the 24/7 map servers?

I kinda enjoyed the old 24/7 Battlearena Basrah server, as well as the 24/7 Muttrah server (10th?)

It had the advantage of you knowing what was gonna happen on the server after the current map had ended.

The closest you get today are insurgency only and AAS only servers, which are fine. But I think a niche is being missed.

Thats kinda why I was the one to propose and organise theme weekends on the iGi server a month or two ago, (you might remember, our Infantry weekend light armour weekend) Since it constrained the maplist to very few good maps that were chosen for a particular property :)

Does anyone else miss those servers, or is anyone waving goodbye to them with one hand and giving the middle finger with the other?

yeah i kinda miss 24/7 servers too. i would kill if someone made a 24/7 qinling server but i know nobody is going to do that. the old devfile 24/7 basrah server was one of my favorites. but at the same time, i love the feeling when a round ends and the loading screen of a map i love comes up.

Nah not really. I enjoy the odd map or 2 more than the other ones, but I kinda like it in PR that you "fight" somewhere else every round.

When I just began I fell in love with Muttrah round 1, so I did go to those 24/7 servers. But when I started playing seriously I didnt go to them anymore. Give me a new map every round and Im happy :)

Yeah, should be a 24/7 kashan/qinling like the good old days and 24/7 muttrah(possible with jabal and barracuda included).

Battlearena is still around allthough I think it just rotates Insurgency. Would be good to see the return of it to 24/7 basrah as it was that server that drew me in to continue playing PR.

Didnt the =TBA= create a basrah V2 as well with the US and old spawn system ?

Yup, I do miss 24/7 Kashan and Quinling servers. Great fun, and good for my less than awesome PC 'coz you don't have to reload the map! :D

I'm hoping to start events like this on a 2nd UKWF server soon, with events such as:
  1. Insurgency Maps
  2. Carrier Maps
  3. British Maps
  4. Heavy Assest Maps
Every night/Day would be something different, and when new maps are released, they are often very popular, so we would probably have a night for Sangin only etc.

Such AS Monday-Wed:Insurgency
Thursday:Carrier
Friday:British
Saturdays:Quinling/Kashan
Sunday:Sangin!

WIP of course, and we have no idea if anyone would actually turn up to them, i guess only time will tell.

I like to change - when I played VBF I always played the same few maps and it got old quite quick.
I guess like everyone I have my favourites (insurgency as infidels) but I like to play them all and enjoy the different skills needed in each map I've only been with PR a few months.
I also try to play different kits to see their perspective, but I am usually medic...coz no one else volunteers first.
I like a bit of Kashan with a good squad, I enjoy the urban AAS of Muttrah, I like to be sillly as insurgent, but hey they're all fun in their own way.

I miss =WTF=24/7 Kashan. The rounds use to last soo long, you could only play one round, but back in those days everyone loved kashan!

Im suprised there is no 24/7 Fallujah server up??

I'm happy to stick up a 24/7 something, but only if it's not already catered for elsewhere.

Id love to see Jabal 24/7, but Im not sure it would be successful.

Insurgency maps tend to be very different every round, more so than the other game modes, so I think that the insurg maps are better suited to 24/7 servers.

What is this 'server seeding' I keep seeing?

Its getting on there to draw players in. no one is joining an empty server, so people seed it (get on it, waiting for it to fill up) to get people to join the server

Yay!

Cheers lads!

There are those special maps that people just love, thanks for filling the niche :)

I like TBA's approach,
June 15th to June 19th
makes it special without the effort :)
