Medic marker

I was wondering, I have seen lots of situations where three squads worth of people need a medic, but there is only one medic. Also the people keep expecting the medic to come to them.

Something that might be useful would be allowing the medic to place a marker on the map (the way the engineer drops a mine marker). This would signify to allies nearby where they can get health. Maybe you could do this for collaborators too, since in insurgency collaborators are few and far between, and just looking at the map and knowing where I can find one would be huge helper.

You could set it up so that maybe the symbol deprecates after a few minutes or everytime he drops a new one.
This might lead to situations where you move to one of these symbols, but its already been abandoned. This means that injured people would retreat to safe locations to heal, rather than just getting healed in the middle of a firefight.

i was wondering what people thought about this.

Hmm a nice idea. But when they call out for medic they see your icon switching to a first aid cross marker. So its not really needed I'd say.

What I usually do before a firefight begins in a defence situation is set myself up in a position and broadcast it over teamchat along with the whole "first aid here" shout. However, you usually don't hear your SL saying "Go and heal there" when you shout "OH MY GOD MY LEG".. Although that's just my gripe after playing Arma and being lazy looking for things.

That would work, but the mentallity of most players will have to change first. When they request a medic, they want it on demand, expecting you to run trough heavy fire to fix them up. Most people just don't retreat to a safe spot to get medical aid...

Sounds good, then they should also change the icons for Automatic Rifleman, Grenadier, squad leader, specialist and rifleman.

I like this idea, sure you can call for a medic and see who is a medic. But, how many times have we all chased around a medic trying to get him to heal you. You basically have to jump up and down in front of them yelling medic. But then there are situations where the medic does his job to the best of his ability. And i think it would be people like that, who use these markers. Showing that they are a medic and know their job, and are ready to treat people around that location. A team wide 'Combat medic on call' audio clip could be played when the marker is set. Similar to how squad leaders request supplies, reinforcements, etc.

Rule #1 for the injured, call a medic and dont move around too much. We can locate you better if you are crouched down or proned.

I like playing medic. This suggestion isn't needed, but a discussion seems to be needed though....

When I am a medic, I expect other players to do certain things, and they should expect me to do certain things.

1) Save your medic calls when you are down. If you are wounded, and the medic can't get to you right away, save it. It will help him when he is looking for you later.

2) After being revived, the medic should call "First Aid, Here!" repeated. You are near blind, but seeing that blinking name will help you follow him. The medic *should* fall back, and you should follow, and then cover.

3) Medic, go prone. The person being healed, kneel and cover.

4) If you are bleeding, call for medic, and find him (use your map). If you have VOIP, designate you will fall back to him unless he otherwise specifies. It's a nightmare in a pub as a medic, sense *most* people don't fall back, so you have to adjust, but when they don't, everyone get's confused.

5) Don't use your field kit! The medic can see your health, and will act accordingly. Mainly, I heal one person to 50% or so, and the other to about the same, then go back. This allows both to fight, but still needing medic (two guns, even if both can't see 100% good, are better than one)

6) Finally, if the medic is busy, step away, cover, and wait for him. If your black and white, call for him, tell him over VOIP, etc. If he doesn't respond, use your field medic kit...better to save that epipen...medic's can get short with some of the glitches involving them.

7) Finally, as with almost everything, use cover!

I too play Medic most of the time.
I agree with you - particulaly about medic prone patient kneeling, the medic bag works 95% in this position if both are prone it is a pain with the medic bag only working 50%!
The only thing to add, when a few squad members are dead and a few injured that is when I will throw field dressings to keep the alive guys alive while I revieve the dead guys.
As mentioned above I see people wasting their field dressings because of impatience.

What I really hate is people calling for a medic over VOIP and expecting me to find them that way. Always use the Q-rose to call for a medic! It turns your icon on the map into a red cross for all medics around and for yourself, all medic icons will turn into a red cross so you can locate one.
This is also why I think this would not be a very useful addition. The Q-rose already does all that's needed, people just need to learn to use it.

Agreed. We cannot find you in VOIP, unless you are using mumble, with voice position.
Use the commarose.
