Idea of how to bring the Pilot pistol back.

Is it possible to make it so once you have a Pilot kit, just like when you've TKed someone, you die if you try to pick up another kit?
To be perfectly honest, when you're a pilot you've really made the decision that this is what you're going to do for this map.
And with a system like this you could give the pilots a pistol and still not have to worry about the heli heroes parachuting out behind enemy lines to steal a kit from the first guy they kill.
I don't know if it's possible to limit it, but to get another kit without dying first maybe you could use kits you request yourself, but you can only request them from the main base.
And if it isn't possible to limit requesting to the main base, maybe it's possible to make a box, looking like the ammo kit or something with a sticker on it or something to set it apart.
And make it so thats the only place where pilots can request things.
If this worked we could have pilots with pistols without the parachuting, and they could still get new kits at main if they don't want to be pilots anymore, which would double as forcing them to take helicopters back to the base and not just ditch them by the nearest crate.

I am in favor of nerfing the pistol because as it is now, it is nearly on par with the MP5 for CQB which is a problem. Nerf it and it should be brought back in without much complaint.

the problem wasn't that the pistol was any good, it was that players decided to use the kit in an unrealistic fashion by paradropping intentionally on enemy positinos and then klling an enemy for his kit.
The above suggestion is suitable to prevent that.
Though I'd just prefer removal of the parachute

here is a better one make to classes one jet pilot the other helo pilot the helo pilot gets a carbine or a pistol but no chute the jet gets a shoot but no wepons problem solved

Give them both guns but make them shoot blanks.
Or a Jet/Helicopter that shoots bullets.

That sounds like a good idea actually.. except you can still paratroop into enemy areas and get unrealistic kills. Just wait until the germans come out.. Paratrooper class FTW!

i crash landed on muttrah and everybody survived, and i had 3 ppl walking past me who didnt see me

so yeah a pistol would be awsome

Well it is good, but Mcluvs idea prevented this IMO. Not sure its actually on the suggestion page anymore, or actually where it went.

What was mcluvins idea? different pilot kits?
That one also works.
Because to be honest I've never actually used the parachute in helicopters, not successfully anyway. Only cobras and apaches are that high up.

-If the Pilot kit has a weapon people will act retarded with it no matter how much you try to nerf it. The only reason you'd give the pilot back his weapon was so he could use it for self defense, but if it's nerfed there's no point in having it and if it's too deadly you have the same problem again. Just stop it with this nonsense, it's such a useless thing to pursue.
-The only reason you'd want a gun for the pilot is to KILL PEOPLE, and that is EXACTLY why they REMOVED IT. Pilot squads running around on Mestia "fur teh lulz" and stupid **** like that is what happens when you give the pilot offensive capabilities.

I think being realistic the only weapon you could give pilots that wouldn't be overpowered is Unarmed punch. They would have to run up to enemies to kill them (isn't easy) and then the punch would only do about 10 damage. But as that would just be a waste of time, and really pointless, Pilots are fine as they are. From many experiances from being shot down in a Heli in Muttrah City it isn't hard to get an evac anyway.

Wouldnt it be better to use the civilian system and just kill the pilot if he tries to get another kit?

I usually just kick the people who are doing the HALO. But I agree, it's not many times you will be able to parachute from a chopper, except attack choppers.
Even then, you have a good chance of actually jumping out infront of the chopper, and having the chopper ram you, which = instant death if your parachute is deployed.
The OP's idea is actually an easy way to solve it, I like it

Keep them like they are, maby adde some Donuts or they should be like civilians so they can raise up the hand. That all a good pilot need. Well in reality they do have pistols or even Submachine Guns.

Really though, I think they should at least give pilots a knife. If they do end up killing someone with it they deserve to get that kit...

This idea makes no sense. I mean, Why give the pilots the ability to survive crashes, and have self defense? *sarcasm*
It's not that Hard...Heli Pilot Pistol. No Parachute...Jet Pilot Unarmed. No pistol. Parachute...
and Tart Players act like tards with any kit..And this is why servers have admins. To remove the tards. What's the difference between a Pilot Squad and Crewman squad?

I like the idea. IMO would go hand-in-hand with
this. There's really no reason why pilots should be forced to do one thing or another. If I knew there where 3 enemies nearby, but that they were unaware of me, I'd try and avoid them. Even with a small carbine, you'd get taken down easily.
However, if I had a weapon and I was spotted, I'd have so many more options to take. Should I set up in the cover I have and wait? Should I move as silently as possible away from them? Should I wait for reinforcements, because I've been cornered? Is it only one person whom I can most likely take on if I set myself up properly?
Because if you're a defenseless pilot who has managed to survive, you immediately cut out the majority of your options, and are forced to either loose your cover and run, or wait in cover, right next to the helicopter that's attracted half the enemy team's attention.
